INTRODUCTION
The United Kingdom is a kind of sovereign state located off north western coast of Europe.
This nation includes island of Great Britain and its overall population approximately 62, 262,
0000, also reported GDP of $2.260 trillion pounds. In UK, it provide the best quality of public
healthcare service to all permanent residents.
In this report, it will be consider the issue of smoking which will be identified in adult’s
population in UK. This report will describe about the health and social determinants related to
the smoking, identified that how will increase inequalities in context of health outcome.
Furthermore, it will discuss about the principle and theory which applicable in health promotion.
However, identified the significant role of nurses in context of public health and intervention to
support large number of population regarding health condition.

Discussion on how health & social Determinants are related to the smoking
The social determinants of health are becoming consider as non-medical factors that
influence health result or outcome. It is depending on the certain condition in which people are
growing, working and living in particular manner. These are consider the forces and system
include social norms, policies and procedures (Drope and et.al., 2018). On the basis of research,
it has been shown that heath & social determinants in regards of smoking. Nowadays, young
generation, adults are majorly attracted towards harmful substances. This is because of life style
change and always influencing people to adopt new things. For Example- Different studies are
represented that 30-35% of adults consume harmful substance such as Tobacco, in order to
generate health result or outcome.

The use of tobacco means that increase risk of disease and premature death among adult’s
people. It has been increased the risk of developing lung cancer 23 times higher among men,
who smoke and 13 times higher among women. The adults both men and women who smoke are
2-3 times more likely to develop coronary heart disease than people who do not smoke.
Determine that how health & social determinants increased inequalities in health outcome within
adults population.
A broad range of social, environmental, genetic and psychological factors have been
associated with use of tobacco, especially large population of adult’s people, who are easily
motivating towards harmful substance and continue smoking. This kind of thing is majorly
influenced by social environment although genetic factors are consider to play an important role.
Social determinants of health inequalities are majorly increased the inequalities in health
outcome within adult’s population. This is because when individual people from poorer social,
economic circumstance so that it is greater risk of poor health, have higher rates of illness,
disability and death (Nurwela, Israfil and Making, 2021). The strong and pervasive relationship
between socioeconomic factors and physical health outcome that can reflect even more complex

and long causal pathways. These kinds of things are mainly involved health behaviour as key
mediator.
In most situation, it has been examined that Adults growing in socioeconomically
disadvantage neighbourhood face a greater physical challenge and also face a problem of
behaviour change towards smoking, which is completely affecting the health outcome. These
kind of health and social determinants are basically inspiring or motivating the individuals to
attract towards smoking, excessive use of Tobacco. It may be determined the health issues such
as depression, negative emotional states, anxiety etc.
Describe about the use of theory, principle of health promotion and help in prevention or
protection of Ill health as related smoking
According to the health belief theory, it is basically used to provide the guidance of health
promotion and disease prevention program. Generally, it is explaining and predicting individual
changes in health behaviour. In order to identify the adults, who have already face health issue
because they are using Tobacco (Okamoto and et.al., 2019). In this way, it is mainly focused on
the consider health belief Model for promotion and develop short-term or long-term intervention.
By using health belief theory, it has been gathered relevant information by conducting a health
needs assessment and putting more efforts to find the risk of smoking within adults populations.
Afterwards, it would be conveying the consequence of health issues associated with risk
behaviour and start promotion to target population such as Adults. In order to implement suitable
actions and reducing the risk of health among adult due to the excessive use of Tobacco
(Smoking).
On the other hand, health promotions are basically used to set of five different promotion
principles that constitute the framework for new intervention paradigm. The primary aim of
principle in to target adult’s population in UK, providing the better guidance in regards of health
issues. The Five principles are: - 1) determine the positive health concept, 2) participation and
involvement of individual people, 3) implement actions, 4) setting appropriate perspectives, 5)
Equity in health. These are different principles working in research & development of health

promotion (Stanhope and Lancaster, 2019). This will help for implementing suitable intervention
and reduce risk of health problems among adults, young generations.
In UK government has been setting “The Tobacco Control Plan for England 2017, the
ambition to reduce the inequality and provide the better guidance where adults can understand
the major consequences of smoking. With the help of this plan, it can run movement of
promotional activities and aware about the effect of smoking.
Role of mental nurses in related to public health and intervention to support health populations,
individuals in term of smoking.
Mental nurses are important providers of treatment and care for patient. In most of cases,
there are largest group of nursing professionals, which provide the better health treatment. If a
person can attract towards smoking. So as, it is very important for nurses to establish a good
coordination with adults people and then give better suggestion in regards of health issue or
problem.
The excessive use of smoking which will directly effect on the psychological condition of
individual people (Yoshioka‐Maeda and et.al., 2021). That’s why, the role of mental nurses have
been increased to public health and support in context of prevention, intervention.
Roles of Nurses-
 Encourage and support their patient to be role as model by not using tobacco and also
promoting a smoking free culture.
 Assess and addressed the consumption pattern and give a proper suggestion for adults
when they can change their attitude towards smoking, try to use other healthy items.
 Nurses are actively influence health institution and educational centres so that they can
create healthy environment, continued to provide better training programmes. Therefore,
Adults, young people can understand the importance of awareness program (Okamoto
and et.al., 2019).

 Nurses are encouraging the adults to join the support Campaign in related to Tobacco free
public places. This kind of thing can possible when nurses establish a strong relationship
with patients.
 Advice the patient where they are completely changed their daily routine and try to
consume a limited tobacco, on the basis of evidence approach, it should be provided the
better suggestion where they can quit smoking, achieve their personal desirable goal or
objective.
 Medical professionals such as Nurses make sure their organisation premises and events
tobacco free. In order to encourage and motivate the patients those are doing same thing.
CONCLUSION
From above discussion, it has been summarised the concept of public health in regards of
smoking and identified among adult’s population in UK. In this report, it has been discussed
about the different kind of health and social determinants related to the smoking which may
increase the situation of inequalities in context of health outcome. Furthermore, it can be applied
the principle and theory which applicable in health promotion. However, understand the
significant role of nurses in context of public health and intervention to support large number of
population regarding health condition.
