The telephone survey has been conducted among two groups in the process of the catchment
of a local community health service. The difference among the people who use the service
and who don't use the service will be included in this survey. There are numerous sources of
population data used to select participants for the survey. For conducting, the survey the
selection of participants is must and very essential. The main sources of population data that
is used to select the participants are described below-
Census
This is one of the main sources of demographic data. As per the information was
given by United Nations, the census is the process of collection, compiling,
evaluating, publishing and identifying data related to the economy and society at a
specific time to all the persons in a country (Van, et. al., 2014). In the census process,
the two factors are used which are the De jure method and De facto method.
Vital Registration
This is a registration system which also called a civil registration system. This is also
included in the process of collecting population data for the specific survey. As per
the knowledge, vital registration is a recording of birth and death. This registration
system includes birth, death, marriage, divorce and many more. This can help in
collecting the data regarding the catchment of a health system (Mikkelsen, et. al.,
2015). This process includes a legal registration. The vital events can be easily
collected by this source of demographic data which shows the societal conditions
regarding the particular process.

Sample surveys
The sample survey is another essential source of population data. Data has been
selected from the household and population to analyse the characteristics of the entire
population.
Administrative Records
In this process, the data has been collected by the administrative authorities. The data
need to be kept in a record of the office.
Advantages
This increase the confidence interval
The negative feedback can be easily identified
Disadvantages
The response rates are declined
Survey opportunities are decreased.
