Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment addresses the design of a short telephone survey for a STAT6000 course, focusing on public health. The solution begins by outlining methods for identifying and contacting two key groups: users and non-users of a local community health service, discussing the advantages and disadvantages of potential data sources like telephone directories and healthcare data. It then describes a simple random sampling method and the participant recruitment process, including the development and distribution of a questionnaire. The second part of the assignment presents a detailed questionnaire, including questions on demographics, health status, awareness and usage of community health services, and user experiences, and recommendations. The assignment aims to gather data on community health service utilization to distinguish between users and non-users, providing valuable insights for public health research and planning.

PART 1
Some of the most common sources with the help of which two groups can be identified is
telephone directory. In telephone directory information of all the local community people is
easily available (Guest, Namey & McKenna, 2017). Not only this within this telephone directory
also consist of address and phone number of selected two groups. With the help of which they
can be contacted easily. Another source is healthcare data of nearby local hospitals. But contact
information of identified groups it difficult to get from this source so out of both the sources
telephone directly is tone of the best source to get information. One of the main advantages of
this source is that identified groups can be contacted easily. Disadvantage of this process is that it
is a time- consuming process. It consists of information of all the local community people which
can and cannot be true. However, data can be collected from local hospitals healthcare data as
information obtained about groups would be appropriate and it would be much easier for
selecting two groups. But with this method it is extremely difficult to obtain information about
people due to policies and procedure of healthcare organizations. For selection of two groups
and sample population there are various kinds of methods out of those methods simple random
sampling method can be selected (West, 2016). But this method cannot be selected and used for
accessing or selecting people on a basis of a particular information or requirement. It is one of
the main limitations of this approach. Due to this limitation survey done from selected
population and its result might vary and might not be accurate.
Participants that will be recruited with the help of this approach are 25. Process of
recruiting participants with the help of this process are as follows: First is to select number of
participants to be selected with this approach by calling and confirming participation of the
participants by explaining need and requirement of the survey. Next step of the process is to
develop a questionnaire and distribute it to the selected participants in order to collect required
information for analysis. This questionnaire will help in analysing the information and also
graphically plotting and understanding it. With the help of this questionnaire it would be much
easier to identify number of people who have used or availed local community health services
and people who have not availed local community health service. It can be easily done by
plotting a graph and analyzing collected information.
