INTRODUCTION
Public services are tend to be considered as a so essential for the modern society in order to
fulfill the needs of the people. These services are generally provided by the government to the people
living within its jurisdiction. This is mainly represented through the social consensus with the
facilities in which certain services are available to all the people in the society. This report will be
completely based on the British Broadcasting Corporation which is a British Public service Broadcast
company. It is the public service organization which mainly provides the broadcasting of news and
other current affairs. This Study will help in developing a clear understanding about the organization
structure and operational activities of the public organization.
Moreover the report will also develop a understanding about the actions and directions of the
Public sector which influence the public decision via media news. Also, it will also provide various
different types of funding sources which are adopted by the public sector organizations and its impact
on the Public sector. The present study will also create an understandability regarding the strategies
which are adopted by the Public sector organization in order to improve the performance as well
customer satisfaction. Along with this the development of the public service organization will also
been explored in order to understand the evolution of the Public services.
TASK 1
P3 Organizational structure of the British Broadcasting Corporation
BBC is a Public service organization which serves the public with the updated news and
current affairs from many years. This is one of the largest broadcasting news organizations in the
world and this company provides the 120 hours of television and radio entertainment every day. This
organization is one of the first radio bulletin from radio station. This was one of the strong
competitions all around the world and it has exploited the revenue generation of news paper publisher.
Then further many news publishers persuaded government to ban the shows. This company is the
England’s Public service broadcaster and its headquarters are located in London within the
Broadcasting house. BBC world news is owned and managed by BBC Global News Ltd in which the
number if BBC commercial group of companies is basically funded by the subscription of the users
and it can also generate the revenue via advertising a particular company or by performing
promotional activities.
In addition British Broadcasting Corporation mainly follows the Hierarchical structure within
the business in order to communicate instructions and orders from the higher management authority
people to the lower management employees. BBC is a Statutory corporation which is involved in
independent and direct government interventions. Along with this, BBC provides the world wide

news to its customers so, this company operates the business and also this corporation has the
following in-house division covering the output and operations of the business. Along with this,
BBC Mainly follows the mix organizational structure. This organization follows the operational
divisions, as well as hierarchical structure within the organization. There are various different types
of divisions in the company and each department is responsible to carry out the specific tasks and
activities in order to accomplish the main objectives of the BBC. Such type of organizational structure
follows various levels such as:
Charter
The British Broadcasting corporation is generally operates under the Royal Charter who came
to the effect within the organization with effect from January 1, 2017 and this charter will work till
2026 December, 30. In order to obtain the License of the Home secretary, Charter helps in
accomplishing such objectives which Broadcasting terms and conditions of the BBC are clearly
defined.
BBC Board
This Board was formed in April 2017 in order to set the potential strategies of the British
Broadcasting Corporation. This new Board has replaced the previous governing body. All the
members within the BBC board are responsible for accessing the performance of the BBC executive
Board in delivering the services and appointing the general director.
Executive committee
This staff within committee is mainly responsible for carrying out the day to day operations of
the broadcasting. This committee is held once in a month and also responsible for the operational
management and delivery of the services to the customer. Therefore, this team is mainly responsible
for carrying out the operational activities within the organization.

British Broadcasting Corporation is consists of various different types of departmental teams
and therefore all the staff members are dedicated towards the individual work in order to contribute
towards the organizational goals. So all the divisions or departments are held responsible for their
operational activities. All the staff is accountable to their individual work as well as performance
which thus helps in determining the overall performance of the employees within the organization.

As the British Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts the news and current affairs so the
content in such industry is one of the major important activity. Therefore in order to maintain the

BBC. In 2004, the BBC contracted out its former BBC technology division to the German engineering
and electronics company. This department within the organization is mainly responsible for
outsourcing its IT telephony and broadcast technology. Staff who are working on the BBC contract
were transferred to ATOS technology system. Therefore, chief financial officer Zarin Patel is stated to
the house of commons Public account committee.
Radio
The BBC has ten Radio stations which is responsible for saving whole of the Uk. Further BBC
Company has started the six radio stations in the international business. in addition to this BBC also
runs the further five stations which mainly broadcasts on DAB and online only. Moreover, 40 BBC
local radio stations and also BBC’s UK national channels are broadcasted.

very important to initialize the business. In order to generate the revenue and profitability within the
organization, it is very important to fund the company in order to perform the operational activities
within the firm. As the BBC gets the money from the TV Licenses and it do not take the money from
companies or shareholders so it does not have to do what they want. Therefore the funding for the
BBC are usually raised through a variety of methods that includes the Taxes, fees and financial
transfer from other level of government. Different governments from around the world that may
employ their own methods for funding of the public service companies are as follows:

The License Fee can be classified as a tax whose invasion can be considered as a criminal
offence to the organization. As the BBC is one of the major prosecuting authority which is
responsible for the broadcasting and content of the channels which is presented by the BBC.
