Introduction
‘Global environment’, is a critical question in the 2st century. Global environment is actually
the external environment surrounding an individual. It influences business perspectives too. The
external environment includes the technological, geographical, economic status of an
environment. Global pollution affects the atmosphere in terms of population, climatic changes.
Global warming in the 2st century is a serious major of concern. This kind of environment
affects not local or concerned area but globally affecting the environment. This global issue has
resulted in affecting ecological cycle. This is a concern, which has raised the issue of over
population. An environment that affects the entire surround world is called global environment in
Science. The Global environment is at risk with the various problems of over population, scarcity
of food, unemployment, pollution and other related to both national and international.
1.1 Examine the major economic issues in the global environment
Economy of the world and globalization are inter-related with each other. Society has become
aware of the various issues arising from global environment. As the result of this, three policies
have evolved, which are sustainability, equity and efficiency. Sustainability comes into question.
Both environmental degradation an pollution affects the surroundings. The major economic
issues are:
 Food security
 Growth economically and environmentally
 Climatic changes
 Unemployment
Economically looking at the issues, what, how, whom and when are the key questions associated
with human beings. Due to an increase in the population, the question of unemployment also
increases. Based on the environment, satisfying the demands of the individual is becoming
tough. Needs are increasing and availability of resources is decreasing, which is causing global
problem worldwide. After the era of the Industrial revolution, the question to satisfy the needs of

the individuals depends on the allocation of resources (Arlt et al., 2011). Which demands are to
be met and which are to be avoided is itself a matter of doubt. Economic crisis suggests that this
products or resources are to be utilized properly. With the proper utilization of resources, if the
products are used full then it increases the standard of living. Growth of a particular country is
based on the standards of living. Increased productivity increases the economic growth.
Economic issues are increasing with the increase in the population. Demand for the food and
employment opportunities are increasing with a decrease in the resources. Global warming has a
major impact on the world population. At the international level, Global Environment Facility
has undertaken measures to protect the economic crisis and the impact of the global
environment. Sustainable environment is also taken care by the GEF (Coles and Hall, 2010).
Unemployment is also an increasing factor resulting for global crisis. Today earth has entered a
phase, where global issues are a matter of concern for each individual.
1.2 Describe the effects of economic issues on countries
Social and environmental problems give rise to economic issues. Social issues like war among
individuals lead to economic crisis. In the countries, global issues is affecting and contributing
to:
 Rise of new powers
 Global imbalance
 Conflict of poverty
 Global health crisis
 Energy and environmental security
Economic issues are leaving a great impact in the society. Changes in the production, financial
crisis, scarcity of resources have increased the economic crisis largely. It is a common notion
among individual to compare their living styles with others depending on the financial
background. Inequity has been a major concern, which all countries are facing largely. As per
research, globally private wealth has reached $166.5 trillion in the year 2016, with an increase of
5.3% than the previous years (Anne and Young, 2011.).

1.3 Analyze current environmental issues in a global context
Global warming is a heavy impact on the environment. Environmentally, the main issues in
terms of global context are vast, leading to an unhygienic atmosphere and matter of concern for
present generation. Due to globalization, the main environmental challenges are:
Degraded water quality: As water is contaminated with various kinds of pollutants, the health of
the individuals is affected to an extent. As the terrestrial run-off to the waters containing high
proportion of nitrogen and phosphorus from human settlements, it affects the water. Even
industrial sites close to water projected area is a cause of water contamination. The chemicals
produced from the industry are carried off to the water. Human activities like throwing of
plastics is also leading to degradation at a high level. Water is the necessity of the environment.
Many chemical waste are contributing to the water pollution. Government has to take initiatives
to the prevention of the loss of the habitat and individual sufferings. International government
has taken massive steps in building the gap between the poverty and unemployment.
Scarcity of fresh water: Fresh water implies the drinking water, which is contaminated through
pollutants. Fresh water for drinking is unavailable, which is again affecting the population.
Climatic change: Climatic changes occur from the greenhouses gases, which cause global
environmental pollution. Changes in the climate leads to rise in the temperature, precipitation
patter, rise in the ocean circulation and hampers ecosystem functions. Climatic changes are
results from greenhouse gases and global warming. Global warming has been a serious concern
for national and international levels.
Ozone depletion: Ozone layers are getting affected with the issue of global warming. This in turn
is causing the UV rays to increase and affect the surroundings.
Biodiversity loss: Due to various factors, biodiversity loss has become a major concern. Air
pollution, land-use change, over exploitation of natural resources and climatic changes are the
reasons behind biodiversity loss. The ecosystem is hamper by the loss of balance between the
animals and the plants (Olausson, 2011). Thus, this also impacts the nation in terms of
environmental issue.

Soil erosion : Chemical and radioactive pollution, are the reasons behind soil erosion.
Overgrazing, deforestation, soil exhaustion are the reasons behind erosion. Soil erosion is
affecting the farmers due to which harvesting natural resources are not implementing in the
environment. This is a severe issue in many parts of the nation.
Degradation: Degradation leads to the factors like loss of habitats due to unavailability of sites.
Habitat loss: Due to the surrounding environment and pollution, habitat loss is increasing day by
day. Habitat loss is due to the cutting of trees, mining soils, which is leading to a loss in the
environment.
Deforestation: Deforestation has been a major cause for economic crisis. Destruction of the
habitats and cutting down of trees and led to an increase in the global warming. This in turn has
affected the biodiversity loss. In order to use the land for commercial purpose, many lands are
cultivated by converting the lands into buildings, therefore decreasing the amount of oxygen in
the atmosphere. This has led to the loss in the habitats with decrease in the number of species.
1.4 Evaluate solutions used by national and international organizations for global
environmental issues
Ocean life is being hampering with the impact of the global issues. Politicians, government must
come up with ways to protect the marine diversity of the country. Reusable energy sources are an
alternative method to conserve water and prevent scarcity of water globally to diminish the
economic crisis. An international approach is the Hydro Infra Technologies (HIT), has develop
an innovative idea. This idea is neutralizing carbon fuel emissions by creating HNG gas. In order
to bridge the gap between the developing and the developed country, equality in the level of
income is an essential criteria met by the government. In order to decrease unemployment,
working opportunities have to be increased. In the recent years, steps have been taken by the
government to increase education facilities and opportunities for each individual. Internationally,
United Nation has brought down an estimation of the fresh water being used for consumption.
Filtering waters in the industrial belts have resolve the issue nationally. Many organizations has
come up with a resolution of providing new cleaning techniques. Household waters are kept in
separate areas to prevent from contamination.

Thermal power is used globally to reduce the radioactive pollution in the environment.
Distribution of food is a major factor problem leading to poverty and unequal distribution in
many areas. Availability of employment increases the scope of opportunity for all the
individuals. Malnutrition is affecting the world's population largely. Economically, the country is
suffering at the threshold. It is on the urge of degradation and decline in the population.
However, organizations are coming forward with various techniques to save the country national
and internal ways. Even cutting down of forest areas are banned from the government to prevent
deforestation and biodiversity loss. Any organization aims at building up a definite structure in
the society with its inhabitants.
Even the Commissioner of the United Nation is coming forward to prevent the unequal
distribution of wealth and food. Appetite satisfaction is a global problem. USA and many other
countries are coming forward to implement new ways and techniques to evaluate this problem.
There is an increase pressure on the markets to lower the rate of the foods and beverages
available in the markets. Child health care is also a factor affecting the nation and worldwide.
Health is affected from the lack of food distribution and poverty resulting due to unemployment.
Even the media has help the global issues to come under the scope of the government.
Governments are working hand in hand to merge with international organizations from the
various methods like equal opportunity of employment, education available to all individuals,
primary education is also mandatory nowadays for each child.
4.1 Describe the different forms of communications media in today’s society
In today’s era, media is playing a vital role in describing the global issues and bringing it to
limelight to create awareness among individuals. Awareness is an important factor, helping in
reducing global issues largely. When individuals are aware of the global issues, efforts are taken
from the individual to reduce the global crisis. Media is the mass development, which helps to
bring into highlight the various concerns of the global crisis. Globally, unemployment is
increasing worldwide, specially in developing country. This fact is brought to limelight with the
help of mass media. Even Government is being made aware of the situations giving rise to global
warming, unemployment, poverty. The government is taking effort from national and
international collaboration to develop the crisis and reduce the current issues of globalization.

media has help to bring to news the various causes of poverty. Poverty has been a major concern
in developing country, and it is being dealt with the help of many NGOs. Through advertisement,
many organizations have tried to eradicate poverty and mass unemployment by providing
education at all levels.

Current global issues in the 2st century are the effects of the cruelty of the society. Recent global
issues are:
 Financial crisis
 Gender Equality
 Food security
 Future of work
 Inclusive growth
 Climate change
Financial crisis is the result of employment opportunity. In many universities as the media has
forecasted that employment is being forbidden (Peterson et al., 2010). Though education is
provided through many organizations, yet many areas are untouched. Gender equity is a
massive concern affecting the global environment and slammed the society for showing gender
inequity.
Media, the source of information has broadcasted many such environmental concerns and
global issues. To some extent, as an individual many are responsible for rise in the financial
crisis. Improper treatment of the gender or showing gender bias is another current global issue.
Global warming and global issues are closely related to each other. Human activities are mainly
responsible for the changes in the environment. Events like cutting of trees, polluting water and
causing degradation are human activities resulting in global issues. Media is one of the
communication medium through which all the complexities of the society is brought to
limelight.

Governments both nationally and internationally face many challenges with an increase in the
number of population. Media has also help to bring into limelight the various nooks and corners
of the activities taken by the government. Government has launched many programs to raise
awareness about the economic crisis. Recently media has taken a step ahead to not only raise
awareness among individuals but also show the efforts taken by the organizational bodies.
Government has launched many Acts for protecting the environment and leading to minimize the
economic crisis. Economic crisis is also affecting from business perspective. Government has to
take special care for all the global issues. Media has enlightened the various challenges faced by
the government and the steps taken by the organization to avoid such crisis. Media has drop the
concept of developing news related to public affairs. Rather media has taken step ahead to focus
on the challenges of the society and measures taken to evaluate it. The mission to reduce the
cutting down of trees resulting in deforestation has been a global issue. US through the
implementation of the ‘Lacey Act’ have reduced the illegitimate cutting down of trees.
In India many such Act are develop and heighten the importance of maintaining global issues
across the world. Providing employment to all individual in every sector is the responsibility of
the government. International collaboration is also taken to accommodate with the various
economic crisis. An individual is responsible for protecting the gender equity to some extent.
Building up private sectors will not only help in providing employment opportunities but will
also reduce the factor contributing to global issue. Global issues are like threats to the
government, affecting the level of productivity. Depending on many situations, mass media has
acted like a weapon in the face of the global challenges. Tax has also being implement for
encroaching the environment (Berthon et al., 2012).
