REFLECTION ON PUBLIC SPEAKING
From the concept of public speaking, I understood that it is the medium to design and
deliver a information or message to public audience. It is great way to build personal
development at various level (Barnard, 2017). It encourages me to get out from my comfort zone
as well as sign up to speak at any event. Effective skills of public speaking assist in
understanding about any topic as it indicate critical thinking skills, poise, professionalism and
creativity that are valuable for me to speak in public having proper knowledge about the topic.
Speaking in public helps me to build credibility and about the event in better ways. It boost my
confidence level and overcoming from insecurities, fears, etc which accompany me to empower
my public speaking. With proper understanding about public speaking, I find that I am being
able to speak in public for influencing the world near me, becoming thought leader that results in
having knowledge for the topic. Engaging in public speaking at good places also helps me to
meet other people that shares their interest and assist me to improve my understanding for topic.
These can be improved through awareness training programs as well as considering the audience
for whom the message is intended for and learning as much as possible about listeners that can
help in determining my choices of words, organising pattern of message and choices of words for
the topic (Spieler and Miltenberger, 2017). Another way through which my public speaking can
be improved is by keeping attention on audience and gauging their reactions in order to adjust
the message as well as staying flexible.
