Introduction
Project management includes the management of the project through the skills, techniques, tools,
and knowledge to achieve a goal or a specific purpose. The main issue and the challenge faced
by the people involved in the project management team is that they have to complete the project
at a given time to achieve a goal with the constraints provided. The process of project
management is divided into a group of five names, initiating, executing, planning, monitoring,
and closing. The knowledge which a project manager should be aware of is integration, time,
cost, scope, procurement, quality, communication, stakeholder management, human resources,
and risk management. The report is based on the assessment of the case study provided. Work
Breakdown Structure and Gantt chart are provided to make a clear and proper understanding of
the project. The case study provided is based on the renovation of teaching rooms and computer
labs of the premises situated in London, Manchester, and Birmingham.

Objectives
The main objective of the assessment is to give a modern environment to the students to make
them learn about the various technologies used in the learning environment and how to
improvise it. Project management includes many objects and points to complete the procedure of
the project. The procedure includes the proper completion of the project and proper
communication. It should be productive and inputs should be allocated and optimized. The
project management aims to complete the project within constraints given. From this renovation,
the staff and the students of the QAHE QA Higher Education can improve their teaching and
learning methods respectively. IT services are capable of enhancing the learning capability and
also the learning power of the students. This also enhances the teaching methods and capability
of the teachers to teach the students. Hence, to achieve such a goal the management of the
project is essential and the same is performed here.
Budgetary information
For the proper management of the project, there should be a generation of proper and clear
budget. The provided case study has a total budget of £50,000. This total amount is to be divided
into the expenses of the launch party, food and drinks, formal ceremony, and the informal events

for the students and staff. The budget also includes the expenses of printing invitation cards and
sending them to the national or local dignitaries.
Timescales
Time management is also essential just like the information on the proper budget in the project
management. The projects have some deadlines which need to be met as the client prefers to
have the project on time. Hence, there is a need for the proper initialization of the project so the
time can be managed properly and it also helps in setting the milestones of the project. For this
project, timescale has been generated in the form of a table to manage the entire project. This
table is shown in Appendix 1.
Approach
The approach for this project of project management is the methodology of PRINCE2 which is
the very optimal and efficient methodology. PRINCE2 stands for
PRojects IN Controlled Environments. The framework of this methodology requires the
following things from the project: a controlled and organized start, a controlled and organized
middle, and a controlled and organized end. This methodology consists of many roles in project
management. These roles are project manager who is responsible for controlling and organizing.
They are also responsible for making a selection of the people who are capable of handling a
project. The second role is the role of suppliers and customers who uses the outcome and pays
for the same. The third and the last role of the PRINCE2 s the project board which is made up of
the suppliers, senior users, and the customer. It has to be reported regularly by the project
manager. The project management techniques used in PRINCE2 is project support and project
assurance.
Key staff
The staff of the project plays a significant role in the work of the project. They are the persons
who help indirectly or directly in the field of project. This includes the developing team,
manager, stakeholders, investors, and many more. All these people affect the project in one way
or the other. The key staff is the stakeholder and without them, the completion of the project can
be hindered.

Stakeholders are the person that can be affected or can affect the actions of the organization, by
their policies and objectives. These are the persons that keep interested in knowing the outcome
and results of the project. For this particular project, there are many types of stakeholders like the
project manager, the developing team, lecturers, sponsors, and many more. They affect the
project in a positive manner or a negative manner and therefore they play a significant role in the
management of the project. They can be a single individual or a group of the organization. They
are responsible for influencing the success of the project or not. Good stakeholder management
should be practiced and for the collaboration of the project, there must be constant
communication. The detailed description and analysis of the stakeholders are given in Appendix
2. It contains the role of the stakeholders, their responsibilities and their impact on the project. It
also includes how they are capable of blocking the work off the project and how to manage them.
Work Breakdown Structure
In project management, the work breakdown structure is a deliverable that is divided into many
small components. It divides the work of the team into the manageable sections. The elements of
the work breakdown structure include the service, product, data, or any other combination. In
this project of the refurbishment of the campus requires efforts of different teams of members
and therefore the work breakdown structure should be created. The WBS for this project is
attached in Appendix 3. The WBS is explained and referenced in a table given in Appendix 4.
The Gantt chart is also attached in Appendix 5. This WBS of this particular project gives the
proper schedule of each task and also the assistance that is essential for the completion of the
task. The table implemented provides an overall and proper schedule of the work.
Critical path analysis in the project management
The project is split and divided into multiple different parts to manage the tasks easily with
proper and closer scrutiny but consumes so much time. So to overcome the problem of time
consumption, there must be proper planning and scheduling of the tasks to map the project's
timeline exactly and accurately. Hence, the analysis of the critical path is important.

Risk Analysis
Risk is the term that defines the possibility of damage and harm to the project. There exist many
types of risks in project management as well. Some of the risks that can occur in the area of
project management are Disputes, Resource risks, and Budget risks. Such risks are related to the
budget of the project, staff involved in the project, and the resources that will be used in the
project. It becomes necessary to eliminate or remove the risks that can hinder the proper working
of the project so that the work on the project can be completed smoothly. This process of
managing the risk is known as risk management. The encountered risks are handled through this
process which helps in making the project optimized. The risk analysis that hinders the working
of this project has been done and put down in the format of the table in Appendix 6.
