 The airlines industry is an industry where the
organization takes up the responsibility to
transport the people from one place to other.
 There are basically three components in this
industry that are commercial, general and
military.
 The industry also provides freight services. The
companies present in this industry are
recognized with an air operating certificate or
license that is issued by government aviation
body (Brauer, 2016).

 The company is a flag carrier in Australia
which is also recognized as largest airlines
in the world by fleet size, international
destinations and international flights.
 The company was found in the year 1935
and is third oldest airlines in world. The
main head of the company is placed in
Sydney. In its journey, the organization has
faced various fluctuations.

 Flight attendants or cabin crewmembers are
those members that primarily work to ensure
the safety and comfort of the passengers
travelling with them.
 These members of aircrew do not fly the fights
but hold direct contact with the passenger.
They are responsible for the increasing
satisfaction level of the passenger on flight.
 Both male and female form a part of the flight
attendant team of the Qantas organization
(Bahr, 2014).

 Harassment issue is one the biggest issues
that makes the employees face safety risk in
the environment. The safety of a girl is
reduced or nullified when the co-workers of
the employee re working to defame her name
to harass her.
 Another safety issue is the issue where other
employees of the company treat badly and do
not take care of flight attendants. This acts as
a safety issue for females in the society
(Sutton, & Haines, 2017).

 The flight attendants are in constant
contact with the cosmic ionizing radiation at
flight altitude that increases the risk of
cancer in people.
 As these people are on flight for most of the
time that makes them prone to diseases like
Cancer etc. breast cancer, melanoma and
non-melanoma skin cancers are the specific
types of cancer that are found in flight
attendants (Bartsch, 2016).
Health Risk

 Along with this, irregular sleep pattern is
another major health risk with which these
people are affected. Irregular working hours
along with overtime work make the
employees exhaust.
 Resulting in which, they face many health
related problems in the environment. The
flight attendants are exposed to second
hand smoke that causes breathing problem
in them (Muir, & Harris, 2017).

 The flight attendants are constantly exposed to
the failure of risking the job. In cases when a
flight attendant get into a conflict with the pilot
of the company then everybody listens to the
pilot even if they are.
 This activity is performed because it is easy to
terminate a flight attendant than to terminate
a pilot. Further, the fact should also be noted
that flight attendants become a part of the
organization until their pretty face is not gone.
Job Risk

 The company Qantas has defined S.A.F.E (Safe Airlines
for Everyone) safety and risk management process
that governs diverse risk management activities in an
organization. The company has already developed an
Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) that
governs the safety systems for the company Qantas.
 The system is inclusive of 12 elements along with the
corporate documents of the company. So, the system
states that it is the responsibility of the senior
management to systematically manage the health,
safety and environment issues present for the
employees (Qantas Group, 2009).
Safety Measure Defined

 So, in order to attain high-level performance
in HSE, the management has defined risk
management system and strategy. This
system identify the hazards present in the
case, outlines the specific strategies that
they can use for managing the risks in the
case.
 The facilities given to the employees are
managed and indiscrimination activities
with the people are strictly followed.

 Job safety analysis is also conducted in the
organization with an aim to identify whether
the company providing optimum amount of
work and environment to the employees or
not.
 Under this process, the task is being broken
up into various simpler steps with hazards to
identify and acknowledge each step and
measure the controls determined to reduce to
amount of risks in the job (Chang, Chen, Hsu,
& Hu, 2015).

 In order to quickly analyse the level of risk present
with the employees on board, the company should
take initiatives for them and define emergency
Preparedness and Occurrence Management systems.
This system should include the trustworthy people of
the organization with strong judging power.
 The flight attendant should explain the case to the
panel and then the panel should take action while
considering all the possible aspects present in
environment. This will reduce the level of threats for
the flight attendants from the pilots (Braithwaite,
2017).
