the witness of all the fields, laboratory testing like water leakage testing, pull-out test, non
destructive testing, analysis of the metal chemical, coating thickness that are concerning the
project. I had to carry out the various material inspections and site inspections in accordance with
MIRs and ITP. Another responsibility that I had was the interpretation and reviewing of the
project specification, codes, drawings, several standards before the initiating the project for
assisting the project manager in perfect functioning of this project. Moreover, I used to negotiate
and appoint the preferred suppliers and sub contractors. I had to daily prestart the meetings with
the team of the site. I even had to overlook the activities of work force and the progress of the
work force. I even had to attend the meeting for client co ordination and to manage the quality
control activities on site. I used to do this by attending inspections and close out meetings,
ensuring installation was to the agreed standard and advising the engineers how to rectify those
problems. I used to update the progress to the PM and arrange the access plant and cranes.
Moreover, I also had to prepare the monthly invoice based on progress and material deliveries by
working in with the QS.

trainings and workshops on the installation of the facades on site I was able to perform my task
with utmost sincerity and smoothly. I had followed the Qatar Construction Standards like QCS
2014, ASTM, BS-EN standards for this particular project. I researched the various lifting
techniques from the internet for complex shapes. After working closely with the PM, I had
finalized many design and site issues where I gained experience on lifting plans and reporting. I
have applied Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office and Autocad in this project.
CE 2.4.2 Accomplishment and task performed
The project was completed with appropriate ideas and plans. The daily meetings,
progress meetings, site walks that helped all the members of the project for understanding this
project and complete the project with utmost perfection. Moreover, before every new task a
training period was organized to ensure that the method statement was followed. My attitude
towards the work and the sub ordinates was always approachable. The various disciplinary
actions were carried out whenever they were required in the project. Weekly progress meeting
with the quality control manager of the client and regular discussions with the PM also helped to
achieve the project objectives and goals.
CE 2.4.3 Identified issues and their solutions
2.4.3.1 Issues
There were mainly three specific issues in the project of Qatar Handball Association
Complex that were required to be resolved on an immediate basis. The issues are as follows:
i) The delays in the MEP contractor procurement of the lighting system.

CE 2.4.3 Identified issues and their solutions
2.4.3.1 Issues
There were mainly three specific issues in the project of Qatar Handball Association
Complex that were required to be resolved on an immediate basis. The issues are as follows:
i) The delays in the MEP contractor procurement of the lighting system.

ii) The high level segmented panels during installation needed men to work on top of the
parapet to lever the interlocking panels into position, this was a major issue for both safety and
physically.
iii) The skylights over the training courts were designed as steel frames with a glazing
nose added. The intention was to install the steel then add the nose and glaze. Due to the
conflicts of trades as in, the court floors had to be laid so scaffolding could not be built.
2.4.3.2 Solutions
I provided relevant solutions for the issues and problems and they were solved
immediately. The solutions to the problems are as follows:
i) For the first problem, I suggested to develop a specific methodology for the installation
of the LED lights in the panels whilst they were being installed. This involved designing a steel
brace/jack to temporarily secure the panels in position leaving a 150mm gap to allow the lights
and conduits to be installed safely. This avoided unnecessary delays caused by another trade.
ii) For the second problem, I organized a counterbalanced anchor point on wheels to
allow the men to be secured at all times, also a bracket to lock into the panel to allow ratchet
straps to be attached to panel to pull the interlocks into position thus reducing the manpower on
the parapet.
iii) For the third issue, I had to come up with a way to proceed. I sat with the structural
team and devised brackets to be attached to the steel frame after glazing to allow it to be lifted as
1 piece. This meant minor disruption to the other trades whilst it was lifted into position.

CE 2.5 Project Review
CE 2.5.1 Project Overview
The project Qatar Handball Association Complex was executed in Duhail, Doha for the
betterment of the public. My project started in the month of August 2013 and ended in July 2015.
This project was finished within only one and half years. However, the quality of the project was
not compromised. The total value of this project was 197 Million US Dollars and the total value
of the facade contract was 18.5 Million US Dollars. The client of Qatar Handball Association
Complex project was Private engineering Office. The consultant of Qatar Handball Association
Complex project was Hill International. The main contractor of this project was Redco
Construction-Al Mana and the facade contractor of this project was Qatar Technical Aluminium.
CE 2.5.2 My contribution to work
I had vast knowledge of engineering and manager due to my academic background. I was
the Senior QA/ QC Engineer in this particular project and I was involved in all aspects of the
project As I was the senior QA/QC engineer I felt my personal contribution helped the contract
to complete on schedule. My daily input with both the client and the workforce, tended to resolve
any issues before they became contractual. At last, with a specific end goal to set up the last
project report, I had gone to project gatherings and given presentations on GRC panel installation
on the project to the colleagues and project supervisor.
