INTRODUCTION
Sustainable tourism defines a concept which reflects to give a positive impact on
economy, environment and society while visiting a destination as a traveller. Travelling and
tourism both are interrelated terms as without a journey, tourism cannot possible. Therefore,
concept of sustainable tourism is linked with procedure of mobility. So, it is a responsibility of
visitors to make positive influence only. In a country, developing tourism is most essential part
as it gives various opportunities to job seekers for taking employment in this sector as a guide,
accountant, operator and more (Yu, Chancellor and Cole, 2011). So, it not only reduces
unemployment but also improves economical growth of a region. In this context, a project has
been made on sustainable tourism development for an emerging destination as Qatar.
Government of this country takes various approaches in order to develop and promote tourism
with the help of private and public organisations working under tourism sector. In addition to
this, present report also reflects threats and issues which come as barrier in tourism development
in this country as well as recommended solution for the same.

2.1 Features of tourism development planning at different level
In Qatar, tourism development planning is necessary to attract more travellers towards its
heritages. It helps in attaining goals and objectives linked with this country in a higher manner.
As, this region is rich in terms of historical places, therefore, in order to generate high revenue
and sustainability of economy, tourism sector emphasizes more on developing plans and
strategies (Torres-Delgado and Saarinen, 2014). These policies are related with giving best
services to visitors of own country as well as of international clients. Along with this, it is major
duty of government to provide proper safety travellers who are come to visit its places. Giving
higher services and protection, helps in creating good image on tourists through which retention
of them can easily be gained. Some major levels of planning in tourism are giving as below:
International level: In order to develop tourism in a country at international level,
QNTSS (Qatar National Tourism Sector strategy) and UNWTO (United World Trade
Organisation) provides much support to countries (Bramwell and Lane, 2011). These
organisations administer guidelines which are essential for such territorial regions.
National level: For improving tourism, public and private sectors of a country are needed
to coordinate each other and formulate strong policies. It will help in accomplishing goals and
objectives of tour and travel companies in a best manner.
Local level: At local level, state government are required to promote and advertise rich
heritage places in a vast manner through they can gain high attention of local people and of other
region to visit such places.
