INTRODUCTION
Sustainable tourism is a concept of visiting some place as a tourism and trying to create positive impact on
an environment, society as well as economy of the country.
The main aim of this report is to understanding of rationale and different approaches of tourism planning or
development.
The report is based upon the case study of Qatar where Qatar tourism Authority launched the strategy for
sustainable tourism development.
Report will describe how stakeholders can benefit from planning of tourism developments and provide
advantages and disadvantages of public/private sector tourism planning partnerships.

1.1 Describing how stakeholders can benefit from
planning of tourism developments
Travel and tourism industry is one of the largest industry therefore, it also have number
of stakeholders as well. In case of Qatar, main stakeholders are as mentioned below:
Government: It is the responsibility of a government of Qatar to make rules and
regulations and then provide a regulatory framework that helps to address all aspects of
a tourism in Qatar.
Therefore, the government of Qatar also make act that promote tourism in the country
and also attract the foreign tourist.
Moreover, the government of Qatar also earns huge revenue from the travel and
tourism industry that further spent on the development of a tourism and for welfare of
the people as well.
By involving stakeholders will help to generate new ideas and as a result, it helps to
grow the business in positive way as well. Therefore, stakeholders provides tourism
related services or some emergency services as well that helsp them to creates
goodwill as well.

much interest in these activities.

Public and private sector partnership is based upon the cooperation among these
organization and they also work for the betterment of a tourism industry as well
as for the local people.
For example, in Qatar, there are different heritages which are in the hands of
both public and private sector such as National Parks and Museum. This is so
because government alone cannot take care of those and require support. Thus, it
helps to attract wide range of customers
Advantages:
Public sector joint hands with the tourism organization in order to resolve the
issues that create hindrance for the growth of a tourism in the country.
Therefore, Infrastructure is one the greatest advantages of public private tourism
planning partnership.

ownership of a heritage sites to private firms so that they can take care of them
in good manner. It is so because it is not possible for the government to take
care of many heritage and sites alone.

It also help in the growth of an employment opportunities, which is consider
one of the greatest advantages of this partnership.
