Qatar is one of the most renowned countries responsible for organizing and managing various
events and championships. There are various business conferences and championships held
that has increased the requirement of hotel industry. This has resulted in a shift of
government’s interest to the development of tourism sector. The Qatar is taking initiative to
build more hotels so as to meet the increasing demand. It has witnessed an increasing tourism
of 6% in the years 2012-2016 as per research. The world tourism organization (UNWTO)
emphasizes on sustainable tourism practices that will act as an effective tool for preserving
the nature. The current report will focus on the rationale for planning in the travel and
tourism industry. Further, various approaches of tourism planning will be elaborated in
details. The report also focuses on the need for sustainable tourism and the issues faced by
the sector.
