Introduction:
Labor force in Qatar amounted to 2.055 million economically active persons, a rise of 5%

and qualification are important when it comes to finding a job and being financially stable. This
research will take the path of exploring the problematic issue of hybridity when it comes to work
and labor market (Governmental and private sector) for those women who are a product of
Qatari to non-Qatari marriage. This study will focus in specially women to discover their
participation in economic daily life. Moreover, in order to support the reality and enrich the
audience about the type of challenges they encounter when it comes to apply for job or getting
paid for it. The paper also conducts a discussion about the common issues faced by the hybrid
group, the reasons that lead them to be paid differently, and the treacherous consequences which
they face in different areas of their lives. It should be noted that, the author has conducted in
depth interviews with 4 women and around 25 survey by the use of Monkey survey in Qatar.
Introduction:
Labor force in Qatar amounted to 2.055 million economically active persons, a rise of 5%

Data analysis:
Case 1: Qatari mother and non-Qatari father.
The first interviewee is the female, HA QASIM, who is a hybrid from a Qatari mother
and Iranian father. She was born and live her entire life in Qatar. Her parents level of
education is high school for both. She graduated from university and a bachelor holder.
Moreover, currently she is working in the private sector. During the interview, when she was
asked is she feel that she is disadvantaged by being hybrid when it comes to Qatari labor
market? she disclosed that “No, because my job is under the private sector. However, I
applied before for more than 8 jobs in the governmental sector and they offered me a very
low salary per month with a job title that is not suiting my qualification and education.
That's why I choose to be in the private sector where they don't really treat me based on my
nationality. My salary here is 21 Qatari riyal per month where the jobs I rejected earlier
where around 5000 or maximum 7000 Qatari riyals”. Moreover , when asked about her
expectations for the future in terms of work she mentioned that I don't plan at all to change
my job. And stated “I know how is it really hard to find a job now in the market specially if
you are non Qatari. They always say that we offer jobs for Qatari mothers kids however,
these jobs even though are not considered to be with a Qatari salary or benefits”. Do you feel
that you are disadvantaged by being hybrid when it comes to Qatari labor market? No at all,
because they treat me with my passport which is Qatari. Off course this will never be the case

When asked about how she feels and weather she is disadvantaged by being a hybrid when it
comes to Qatari labor market? She said that, “ No at all, because they treat me with my
passport which is Qatari. Off course this will never be the case if my mother was Qatari and
father not. I am treated her equally and never felt at any point that I am hybrid or anything in
terms of work and payment. I got payed as normal Qatari people in the country. I am able to
attend courses that helps me to develop in my work and there is a health care insurance for
me too. I think that the law is not in favor of those of a Qatari mother but to me my case is

getting disadvantaged by being hybrid when it comes to Qatari labor market? She mentioned
with anger, “Yes I am, my income is really low compared to my Qatari friends who hold a high
school degree like me and work for the same job title. The problem is that, I was not given the
change to complete my education as I am non Qatari by Qatari mother. They only offer those
with high grades a free scholarship or sometimes they directed me to certain university and with
specific fields to join as a non-Qatari from a Qatari mother. Being hybrid affected my life in all
aspects, I was not able to complete my education or get a scalar in the major that I want to
pursue”. In addition to that, about her future expectations in terms of work she elaborated, that I
really wish and pray that they will one day treat all of the women of Qatari mother as Qatari’s
because they are living In a trauma socially speaking as everyone is not treating them as Qatari.
At the same time, in the job market they are finding a really hard time finding a job or moving to
