It is the industrial and professional organization for
nurses.
This organization is run by nurses and midwives for
the nurses and midwives.
The midwives work in the public and private health
and also for aged care in Queensland.
The organization is responsible for promoting and
defending the social, political, professional and
democratic interests of around 60000 members.
It is a state registered union.
It is the only organization in Queensland which
provides comprehensive representation for nurses.
It is a branch of the Australian Nursing and
Midwifery Federation (Daly, Speedy & Jackson,
2017).
Contribution to the common good
They play a major role in providing high quality health
services for all whereas in today’s world care is provided
on the basis of need and pay.
The nurses and midwives work together and group their
combined resources, skills and knowledge for protecting
the interests of all members of the community.
The nurses and midwives have similarity of concerns and
fights among the unions all over the world.
They work together to attain security and fairness and
equality in opportunity.
They promote the acknowledgment and authority of prime
nursing values.
They believe in democratic Australia and thus value all the

My professional contribution
I can contribute to the decent minimum living standards
through the social security and taxation systems.
I can help in presenting them a rich and rewarding life
as per my capabilities.
I can look into the fact that the members of the
community can live a better life by promoting peace
and security.
I can use my knowledge for ensuring the safety and
security of the members.
I can provide them a healthy environment which will be
free from harassment, discrimination and any kind of
violence.
I can use my power to recruit, organize and represent
workers who will work for the attainment of goals.
