Quality administration is the step that enables the company to oversee all the activities
to achieve a desired level of standard (Goetsch, 2014). Whereas, the lean system can be seen
which focus on minimizing waste and maximizing productivity. This paper will reflect about
Six Sigma Theory & its implication and JIT lean system & its implication with the
importance of Deming’s research.
Six Sigma is the approach or methodology for removing the defects in the process
from the manufacturing stage to the transactional stage and from manufactured goods to
service. The aim of this theory is the application of the measurement-based strategy that aims
at process development. This includes five phrases; Define the problem and expectation,
requirement of the customer’s; Measure the current performance to identify the defects;
Analysis the cause of the variation; Improve the defects by innovative process; Control the
new process to prevent falling in new process; Verify the product has been approved by the
client and customers (Salah, 2010).
There are various variations in operations of the business, which creates the problem
in the business that can be reduced by the Six Sigma theory, and business performance can be
increased. When Six Sigma is added to lean, an appropriate structure is made that make it
easier to achieve optimum flow. It helps in creating measures for activities that seem to be
immeasurable. The implication of Six Sigma techniques help in creating the measure for
high-level processes and this may especially help in planning to move toward Business
Activity Monitoring (Gamal Aboelmaged, 2010).
One of the lean concepts is JIT (just in time) inventory management is that it helps in
eliminating the large inventory from the organization, which helps in the reduction of the

inventory cost. It is the system of purchasing raw material only when they are needed. The
objective of JIT is to eliminate waste, Zero inventory, Flexible manufacture, Zero time lead
(Luzzini, 2010).
By implementing the JIT, industries become more competitive worldwide. JIT strives
to increases the efficiency of production operation by eliminating raw material cost.
Employee improvement and empowerment, motivation, no lead-time offset is required, Using
of production rate rather than work orders.
There are various positive effects by implementing the JIT such as with a quicker
change of stock there is not much necessity of space for store products. This also helps to
prevent investment in necessary stocks. This diminishes the amount of storing an
organization wants to rent or buy. However, implementation of JIT leads to negative effects
such as risk or running out of store, lack of regulator over the period. In JIT limited stock has
to be maintained in the organization, an effective relation has to be maintained with the
supplier as something if a supplier is not able to fulfill the requirement then it can be led to a
problematic situation (Kumar, 2010).
Deming’s research helps in carrying the individual from out of a crisis. Deming’s
research plays a vital role in proving an effective workplace; enhance productivity by putting
emphasis on quality. Deming’s research helps in creating and communicating to all the
employees which overall helps in the quality of the goods. This also helps in ceasing
dependence on mass inspection and builds quality into the product from the starting level by
adaption of new technology and philosophy. This research continually works on quality and
productivity. This emphasis on eliminating the barriers that restrict the quality of the
products. Teach and institute leadership to improve all job functions. This help in creating
trust between the stakeholders regarding the quality of the products. In the end, it also helps
