This research critique evaluates two quantitative studies concerning the management and prevention of type II diabetes, particularly among the youth. The first study, "Effects of Exercise on Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Type 2 Diabetes" by Chudyk & Petrella (2011), investigates the impact of exercise on cardiovascular health. The second study, "Effect of lifestyle intervention in patients with type 2 diabetes: A meta-analysis" by Chen et al., (2015), assesses the effects of lifestyle modifications. Both studies employ quantitative methodologies, with Chen et al. utilizing meta-analysis and Chudyk & Petrella conducting a systematic review. The results highlight the benefits of exercise and lifestyle interventions in improving glycemic control, blood pressure, and cardiovascular markers. The critique aligns with a PICOT question focused on the role of exercise in managing type II diabetes, emphasizing the significance of these interventions in nursing practice. The findings suggest that lifestyle and exercise interventions are key to managing and preventing complications associated with type II diabetes, such as cardiovascular disease.
