1. Question 1
The excel worksheet has been set up by defining the category, their weights and marks
etc. The marks has been organized in a tabular form from which the total final grade is
calculated based on the percentage weighted. The grade scale for letter and percentage
weight is shown in first worksheet. The calculation is done on the second worksheet. The
final course percentage is calculated to be 83.1%. The letter grade earned by the student
in this course is ‘B’.
2. Question 2
Dropping any zero in the course for the student will affect the final grade and it will get
increased. Taking the current data as example, there is two zeros in homework, one in
quiz and one in online test review. The online test review has less weightage so it can
affect less in the increment. Suppose, if the zeros are dropped for the student, then the
final grade will be 86.1% and the letter grade will not change.
3. Question 3
The student has missed 2 home work already, the number of homework that the student
could have missed can for maintain the overall class grade can be checked by putting
zeros in the home assignment. After placing one zero the overall grade of the student gets
change. Due to having 10% weightage, it can bring change up to .1% in overall grade.
Hence, student could not have missed more homework.
4. Question 4
The final exam has 25% of weightage in final grade which can affect .25% of change in
final grade. The lowest possible final score to maintain letter B is 80 and current final
score of the student is 83.1. To bring change of 3.1 % the marks should be dropped by

3.1x(25%) = 12.3. Hence the minimum exam 3 marks should be dropped by 11 to
maintain the same letter.
5. Question 5
If the student had failed both the projects then the grade of the student, would change to
81% as the grades for fail are 59 that would change the current grade by almost 2.1
averagely. If student did not turn in either of the projects then the final grade would have
dropped by 8%.
6. Question 6
The weightage of the exams marks are higher than the other assignments. In this scenario
the student will be pass with very low grades. The calculation has shown letter D for
student and 64% overall grade. On the hand option B will have less impact as they have
less weightage which shows around 73% final grade and letter B. hence the option B is
best.
