Quantitative Research Tools, in decision making, play a great role towards estimation of the
probabilities for the event plus their consequences. The tools play a great role towards helping in
the planning, monitoring of risks, scheduling and the forecasting. However, the main purpose for
quantitative approach is making the optimal decision through the usage of mathematical plus
statistical models within the situation, when probability of outcomes becomes uncertain.
Therefore, an exploration will be done showing how quantitative research tools can be used to
aid in decision making in Environmental Health and Safety sector (Hartas, 2015).
Quantitative tactic towards decision making helps in the production of results that are accurate.
This happens if the problem becomes clearly defined with the existence of alternatives plus
measurable decision outcomes. However, if there is an existence of external factors that are high
in number outside the control of the decision makers plus the unknown probability, quantitative
methods becomes very unreliable (Richards, Aziz, Bale, at el. 2015).
Quantitative approach tactics relying on the statistical software, tend to have an advantage
towards suggesting a solution for the available problem in the absence of identifying the possible
alternatives. The approach is very useful in problem solving where there is possible number of
alternatives that are very huge but only a few number of the alternatives are worth for the
selection. When the problem plus the conditions become defined, decision making procedure
becomes easier and faster at the same time (Lewin, Glenton, Munthe-Kaas, at el. 2015.)
Within the Environmental Health and Safety sector, the top management has helped in setting up
policies and tools that have been used in implementing the policies aimed at maintaining the
safety and health of the sector. The policies that are set up play a great role towards outlining the
expectations of the faculty, individual employees, and the organization at large (Babin, Zikmund,
2015).This policies are usually in line with the communication of the laboratory personnel so

that the major concerns become adequately addressed. The policies formulated in this sector
have an intent of;
1. Preventing human plus economic losses that come as a result of accidents, occupational
exposures that are adverse and the environmental events.
2. Building of the Environmental Health Safety considerations towards all the phases for
operations including the laboratory discovery plus development environments.
3. Achieving and maintaining the compliance of the laws plus regulations.
4. Continuously improving the EHS performance.
The sector also uses planning and implementation techniques so as to achieve the safety and
health of the environment. Planning plays an integral part towards the system management. It
involves designing plus development of the suitable processes that manage Environmental
Health Safety aspects and the risks that are associated with the control systems. Planning also
helps in dealing the risks that are related to health. The risks mighty tend to become apparent
after the occurrence of the latency period. Planning also helps in the establishment of objectives
which help in defining a criteria that is used for the judgement of the success or even failure for
management system (Govindan, Rajendran, Sarkis, at el. 2015). There are various sources which
are used in the identification of applicable EHS facets. The sources are;
1. Exposure assessment
2. Permits
3. Risk assessment
4. Employee feedback
5. Inspections
6. Building codes

On the other hand, implementation helps in the arrangements which help in the reflection of
businesses for the organization in terms of the nature of the risks. Implementation also plays a
great role towards operational plans, plans covering, corrective action for implementation,
communication networks, clearing of the performance and the performance measures. Most
world organizations use the techniques of implementation and planning to maintain
environmental health and the safety. A good example is the World Environmental Organization
and World Health Organization (Hair, Wolfinbarger, Money, at el.2015).
The future of the quantitative research tools lies on the hands of both the researchers and the
government. The government should play a great role towards improving the techniques. This
can be achieved through giving financial support. It can also be achieved through setting up of
institutions which will help in research and will teach on how to improve the techniques.
Quantitative research also depends on the emphasis put on it by various stakeholders. Private and
public sectors should play some roles that are aimed towards embracing and supporting the
research. If the needed support will be given by these necessary stakeholders then it means the
future of quantitative research will be very bright and promising. On the other hand, the
researchers should play their role. This is through coming up with more techniques that can be
used in research. The researchers should also find ways on how to better the existing techniques
in that they are able to give clear and accurate information towards a certain issue. However it’s
quite clear that the future of quantitative research is luminous.
