Project
AI Summary
This project focuses on designing a questionnaire for a chocolate manufacturing firm in Southampton planning to expand into Scotland. It discusses the suitability of questionnaires as a data collection method, highlighting the advantages of collecting relevant data and enabling comparison of historical and fresh insights, while also acknowledging the disadvantages of potential incorrect feedback and emotional impact. The project suggests collecting data on consumer income, average worker's wage levels, and consumer spending habits to inform the company's expansion strategy. The questionnaire includes questions about income sources, annual income ranges, household spending capacity, and preferences regarding wage increases or working hour reductions. Ultimately, the project aims to provide a structured approach to gathering relevant data to support the firm's expansion plans, with Desklib offering similar resources for students.

INTRODUCTION
Questionnaire is one of the best way to collect data, researcher consider this method
important because they know questionnaire allow study to cover important area. This study is
based on a chocolate manufacturing firm dealing in Southampton planning to expand in Scotland
consider. This report will discuss suitability of questionnaire of data collection (Grassini and
Laumann, 2020). Later this report has discussed suggestion with justification of the data which
need to be collected. At last this report will discuss questionnaire and provide it as per the
requirement.
MAIN BODY
Discussing the suitability of questionnaire as method of data collection:
Questionnaire is one of the most effective method to collect primary data, researcher can
consider this method to gather relevant data and analyse it according to the study. Questionnaire
is instrument which consist of certain question is systematic manner, researcher design
questionnaire according to the requirement of the study (Boparai, Singh and Kathuria, 2018).
Every research based on qualitative type consider questionnaire to gain thematic data directly
from observation of viewpoint of participant. It is very clear that reliability of questionnaire
depend on chosen topic, researcher might consider design of questionnaire according to the
requirement. There are certain advantage and disadvantage of questionnaire method in collecting
data, these are:
Advantage: Relevant data: One of the biggest advantage of questionnaire, researcher can collect
relevant data based on their research topic. It is very clear that design of questionnaire
allow researcher to collect data, large number of participant are considered in which they
need to provide answer to those question which is often asked by the researcher. Data is
highly relevant because participant are directly approached, researcher carefully observe
them.
Comparison: Comparison of historical data and fresh data can be seen in the process of
questionnaire, researcher can compare both historical and new data and can analyse the
shift in consumer demand and requirement and design their product accordingly. Many
researchers consider questionnaire to compare old data with new one and bring
effectiveness in the research.

Disadvantage: Incorrect feedback: One of the biggest disadvantage of questionnaire is incorrect
feedback, consumer or participant may provide incorrect information which may impact
reliability of the study (Schneider, 2018). Researcher need to consider those question
which are easy to answer, challenging and personal question may impact behaviour of
participant and drive reliability of study in different way.
Impact on emotion: Sometimes questionnaire are design in such a way that it impact
emotion of the participant which means researcher have not followed ethical
consideration. However, they are certain cases in which researcher need to ask personal
information to gather relevant data, this type of questionnaire can be seen in health and
social care in which researcher can ask as per the requirement.
Suggesting with justification what data they need to collect:
Every research is incomplete if researcher does not know which type of data they want to
collect, questionnaire process is wide, researcher need to be clear why they need data and what is
the purpose behind collecting this data. However, in the case of chocolate manufacturing firm,
data and its type does matter (Beatty and et.al., 2019). Company is analysing the birth and death
rate of businesses in the UK which means researcher need to consider key type which to collect
data, there are certain type of data which will be beneficial for the company, these are:
Consumer income: Consumer income is one of the most important thing which allow research
to consider this element, however questionnaire design depend on the topic, considering
questions on income may impact ethical area and impact privacy of consumer. Data collected on
this element is highly reliable, researcher can compare and avoid failure.
Average worker's wage level: This is one of the most important element in which researcher
need to consider those question which allow them to gather information on average worker
wage. However, data collected on this element may not be highly reliable because wage level
keep changing according to the labour market condition.
Consumer spending: Consumer spending is element which is not constant and stable which
means data collected on this element may lack behind in effectiveness, however, researcher can
consider this element because understanding spending capacity according to the region is easy
and allow firm to drive their pricing strategy accordingly (Mkandawire, 2019).
