CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Research Project Description
In this present world, discrimination on the basis of the race and caste along with the
ethics is a great topic of consideration. In this context, it has been said that there are various
aspects which are related to the discrimination on the basis of the race and caste. Discrimination
is a term which can be defined as the treatment or consideration which can be for against and in
favour of a person or thing , which is based on the group or category or class. It includes the
action or behaviour which is wrong in nature which affects the person or a selected group of
persons in a negative manner (Awad, 2010). It is done on the basis of the perceived or actual
basis. It is considered as the wrongful act as it discriminates the people on the basis of the caste
and race as well as the minority etc. In this report identification and evaluation of the impact of
Racial and Ethnic Discrimination upon the Development of Children of Minority Groups. It
means that the children who belong in the minority group or a society. Discrimination is banned
in the practice as it increase the wrong doing activities in any country. Also, it can be said that
children are the future of any country (Burt, Simons and Gibbons, 2012). They should be
protected and developed in a sense that they could realise their sense of responsibility for
performance of various activities. This project is based on the study which is related to the
contextual and other aspects which reduces the discrimination of children. It can be further noted
that government has also started some training sessions and camp for development of education
of the people so that they can be well capable and skilled. In the context of children of minority
of group, it has been analysed that they should be provided access to school and should also be
given equal opportunities.
1.2 Rationale of study
Children in minority group refers to that particular group of society which is the treated
as differentiated from the social group which hold the majority and ownership or special power
in society. The main rationale of this study is to identify and evaluate the impact of
discrimination on the basis of ethics and racial of children belong to minority group. Also,
discrimination can cause various mental health and other issues which are related to the context
of health. It can be further stated that the people who are willing to discriminate children enjoys
in performing such acts due to their ill mentality and undue and unfair treatment thinking. In

aspect of this report, it can be further stated that there is a need and necessity to recognise the
protection measures which are use to safeguard the interests of minority people. It can also be
noted further that there are various aspects which should be considered for protection of
discrimination. Moreover, this societal topic has not been discovered and explored till yet. Due
to this reason this subject or topic has a wide range and scope of research to be conducted. In
addition to this, it can be noted that through this theme of study researcher would be able to find
the ways to reduce the discrimination that has been in practice. In addition to this, the main
rationale of this study is to set a standard and various other frameworks which can be set out as
important for abolishment of the discrimination of the study.
1.3 Significance of Study
This context of study is very crucial and important for the researcher and other societal
people who are working for the betterment of the society. Also, it can be considered significant
for various NGOs and various other social groups which are working for the betterment of the
society. As, their main motive is to protect the interest of children and their rights, so this
research can be proved as momentous for them. The stakeholders of all these societal groups
and institutes will be rendered necessary information in the regard to their further approach of
study. Also, it can be proved as important tool for the development of the country and its
citizens. This study also provides a basis of further study to those people who wishes to study
and conduct their research further analysis. It can be further note that there are various aspects
which are related to the study and other contexts. Also, it is also considered as important as it
highlights the effect of the recent trend that has been prevailing in the country. Also, it will be
proven as significant for those people who wants to perform certain actions and deeds for the
betterment of the society.

Aim: The main of conducting this research is to identify and evaluate the impact of
Racial and Ethnic Discrimination upon the Development of Children of Minority Groups.
Objectives: In order to accomplish and carry out the main aim of the respective research,
following objectives and goals need to be fulfilled:
 To Identify racial and ethical discrimination.
 To evaluate the consequence of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination upon the Development
of Children of Minority Groups.

 To suggest the ways to investigate the impact of discrimination.
 To evaluate the development of children of minority group in a country.

Meaning and concept of racial and ethnic discrimination
According to Kriegerc and Koenen the Discrimination is a process under which any
person is being discriminate on the basis of their age, gender, culture, region and other reason. In
the human social affairs, discrimination is a treatment or consideration of, or making a
distinction in favour of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to
which the person or thing is perceived to belong rather than on individual attributes. Therefore,
the racial discrimination is that in which it is based upon the ethnicity or race. Thus, this are
subdivided into two groups which are different its social behaviour and there are millions
number of death arises that are highly based upon its race and ethnicity. While these terms are
more popular that are to separately in the social science that have longer history of race or
ethnicity have a popular usage. The term racism and racial discrimination is describing the racial
discrimination which are on the basis of culture or ethnicity. Therefore, the discrimination can be
stated any exclusion, distinction or preferences which are directly based upon the people colour,
race, ethnic origin and descent. It is that type of principle in which the people are to treated
unfairly that are based upon the racial or ethnic group. There are various situations in which
there are discriminatory practices arise that are based upon race and ethnicity. For instance, the
shopkeeper refuse to the person to access to products or services and restricting them not to
exercise any kind of economic activity based upon the race or ethic group. For instance, there is
an adoption of any other measure of education al enhancement as per the racial discrimination.
As per the view of Harris and Timutimu discrimination occur when an act or mistake lead to
differential treatment of a person or a group of people with reasons pertained to race, skin colour,
sex, nationality, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender identify or other factor. For the society
development and growth, ethnic and racial discrimination bring the negative impact through
which people can not grow properly and can not live their life in an independent manner. Racial
discrimination is that kind of practice under which if the person is treating someone in different
manner due to the person color of skin. For instance, If the HR manager of any organisation
interviewing the two same or equal qualified candidates for the same type of job. Therefore,

these two people have a difference in the race or color in which one person is black and other
one is white. Therefore, they decide to selecting the white candidates on the job positions as they
like to work with the white people. Thus, the black people are engaged with the racial
discrimination. There is a race as a social construct that are more complex phenomenon. It is
highly based upon the social or culture context that is foundation of racial discrimination. For
instance, the white European people arrived at the United States they justified the landing from
the Native people through promote the ideas as the people of Indian Weren't have a white color.
For instance, in the American history there is a treatment of non-white people poorly and they
face the racial discrimination.
Racial and ethnic discrimination upon the development of minority group
As per the view of Logie and Loutfy a minority group refers to a category of those individuals
which are differentiated from the majority social. It is that people who hold the majority of
social power in a society and it is differentiate that are based upon the human characteristics such
as wealth, gender, sexual orientation, race, caste, gender and religion etc. Therefore, the minority
group can be stated as that are used sometimes to explain the social power relationship among
the subordinate groups and dominant. The minority group can be define as a different social
categories such as religion, gender, age and so on. Therefore, there are categorised into various
in which there is an Age minorities in which children are to be considered as a minority group.
Therefore, in the age of young people they are faced the racial discrimination. In regard to this,
there is a youth rights movement campaigns for the purpose of empowerment socially for the
younger people. As per Lee and Ahn The minority group are categorise into culture and physical
characteristics that are directly different from the dominant or majority group. Therefore, the
people are to be treated unequal due to the difference in the skin colour of a people that are to be
considered a physical characteristics. The people are comes under the physical characteristics
and to be treated by other in unfair manner and not to be treated equally than it is called a racial
discrimination. Whereas, there is an other trait that is culture distinction are directly associate
with the antagonism among groups. Therefore, the people are to be treated unfairly and
unequally than these are facing a ethnic distinction. Most of the time the minority group of
people are to be treated unfairly and they are generally isolated physically and socially. For
instance, the management of an apartment are refusing to rent those Lee, D.L. and Ahn, S.,
2011members who are come under the minority community. Therefore, there is a different group

of minority member are the Muslims or Christians and other people treated unequal as they
refuse to give accommodation. The only rent as well as selling the building to the dominant

They are not treated equally to all others children's. Children's are refuse to the public places.
They are treated as poor. They are restricted in the hospitals for the treatment. Restrictions are
imposed on the institutions to not take such minor children's into the institutions. The minority

children's are threatened, insulted or degraded on the grounds on racial bases. Many of the
organizations do not give the higher post to the minority children's. He found that in all the
places they are treated as lower then the others. Child of minority groups are not given the
priorities. They are treated as lower class peoples at all the situations. Racial discrimination is
harmful for the society and its stops from the development of the minority children's. Minority
peoples are not treated normally even at the things which are mandatory or required for the
survival. difference is always their to show them the lower class people. Racial discrimination
refers to unequal treatment to the person or group on the basic of their ethnic or race. Race is the
concept of complex . Differences are on basic of the complex of the people is racial
discrimination. Discrimination may be positive or negative impact. Positive impact in the favor
of the person and negative in the unfavorable person.
Key concept of discrimination are that their shall be no direct or indirect discrimination
whatsoever be the situations. Direct discrimination occurs when one person is treated less
favorable than others. Indirect discrimination occurs when a particular person is compared on the

religion. Harassment is the effect of violating the dignity of a person or creating an offense

seen higher rates of poverty and unemployment through racial discrimination. Their is no
particular approach to measure the discrimination. The color discrimination occurs when the
person is judge on the basis of light and dark skin. Race is the social construct for the satisfaction
of the groups. To measure social differences in health and treatment it is increasing day by day.
Race is not in our heads because it is real but rather it is real because it is in our heads.
discrimination is defined on the inadequate unjustified factors. Not all discrimination occurs at a
individual level. He define the term race as the premises of biological and physical differences.

Chapter 3 - Research Methodology
For any research study it is important for a research to conduct a methodology in order to
effectively conduct the research through forming the research methodology as per the
requirement of the topic gives the researcher an edge to conduct the research in an unbiased
manner. It comprises of the elements which are needed to be undertaken for conducting the
research in an appropriate manner. Research methodology helps in making the study of the
project in a better and convenient manner(Mertler, 2015). It acts as the plan through which at
every step what needs to be done and which philosophy needs to be applied is carried out. It also
helps in taking out vital facts so that the research carried out should be authentic.
Research Philosophy
Research philosophy is a very wide topic which deals with the nature of the research and
development of the knowledge. It helps in making the researcher aware about the subject matter
and also it helps in gaining the knowledge and helps in formulation of belief towards the topic.
The research philosophy involves the assumptions taken by the author and also serve as and
serve as strategy for the research project(Jamshed, 2014). There are different type of
Philosophies such as pragmatism, realism, positivism, interpretivism. In the present study scholar
has used interpretivism philosophy that helps in making the relation between racial and ethnic
discrimination and Minority group children.
Research Design
Research design is the most important trait of carrying out the investigation as research
design includes the plan through which the research will be carried out. The research design give
the researcher a framework to conduct the research. The design is a master plan of the research
topic through which the study ca be effectively completed(LoBiondo-Wood and Yost, 2013).
There are different kind of designs which can be used as per the research topic demands thus
they are: Descriptive, Exploratory, case study, etc. Talking about the present report for the
purpose of conducting fair investigation the design here undertaken is exploratory research. Thus
the exploratory research includes the the techniques of data collecting from different journals and
magazines.

Research Approach
A research approach deals with the approach in which the research will be taken out,
there are two types of research approaches which is inductive and deductive. Thus the current
study has been undertaken in such a manner that it uses inductive approach. As by using this
approach the researcher has does not included the hypotheses and it is a universal explanation.
The study moves important observations to generalizations(Mertler, 2015). Thus by applying this
sort of research the author has explored alternate theories, through which the understanding of
the nature of the problems has become easy for the researcher.
Data collection
Herein, for the purpose of the study the data has to be collected by the researcher and thus
there are two sources from which data can be collected and they are: primary source of data
collection and secondary sources of data collection. Thus primary sources of data collection are
thee sources from which data is collected for the first time with respect to the study. Here in
primary sources the data is collected through the help of questionnaires, interviews with the
target audiences and on the other hand in secondary sources the data is collected with the help of
magazines, books, white papers, journals and many more(Jamshed, 2014). For the purpose of
this study more emphasis is given on the secondary sources as that will help more in gaining the
knowledge regarding the topic undertaken. Under the secondary sources the activity performed
are getting the data from news papers articles and magazines studying various books and journals
which help in strengthening the knowledge of domain.
Sampling
Sampling can be understood as the group of people from which small part of sample is
taken for the purpose of the study. There are different types of sampling methods which a
researcher can used to take out the sample from. The methods are: stratified sampling, Random
sampling, convenience sampling, judgmental sampling, and many more. For the purpose of the
study no sample is taken as the subject matter undertaken here is of subjective nature and it will
give the results when the research is done based on the secondary sources of data
collection(LoBiondo-Wood and Yost, 2013). But as the target group related to this topic is the
minority group people who are not given the actual benefits they have right of. As far as there
needs are concerned it can be said that they don't need any thing which comes under the category

of luxurious things rather they just wants to have their rights being fulfilled appropriately. Thus it
is important for a researcher to make the analysis in order to make the work efficient.
Data analysis
Thus forming the end part of the research process this particular section relates to the
results which is founded by applying the different tools and techniques which comes into play by
the help of conducting the research. In data analysis the data collected from different sources
have been analyses and interpreted in order to come up with the certain recommendations which
can make the working effective. There are two types of data which is qualitative and quantitative
data and both are measured in this.

Thus for conducting the research a researcher should understand his/her duty towards the
society. That's why it is important for the researcher to conduct the research in an efficient
manner(Green and Thorogood, 2013). Thus in order to comply with rules and regulations the
