This discussion is based on learning occurred within the ‘race’ module while thinking
sociologically. In this context, this paper is going to explain the Mission Australia survey
results which are revealing that around one third of young public faced unfair treatment or
racial discrimination because of their races during last decade.
In this contemporary society, racial discrimination within Australia has been reported by
almost one third of young people. It has been observed that race-based mistreatment affected
their total development in terms of physical, mental and professional developments (Ford &
Hunjan , 2016).
Moreover, youth survey by Mission Australia's has revealed that total 22,000 young public
aged in between 15 and 19 belongs to the whole country participated in the survey. Hence,
4,000 teenagers reported that they used a language include Chinese, Vietnamese and Arabic
other than English. The above was the reason that young public speaking mandarin faced the
utmost rates of racial discriminations, at around 90% (Ford & Hunjan , 2016).
In addition, on an average 80% of Filipino and Cantonese young people has been reported
unfair treatment because of their race. Additionally, young people belong to Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander was double in numbers while having experienced racial discriminations
than the non-Indigenous peers of them (SBS, 2016).
In this way, sources like ABC news revealed that still there are few conversations going on
within Australian community as well as some acts are being taken contrary to young
Australian people which are not at all correct (Ford & Hunjan , 2016). In this way, the ABC
and SBS helped us to know about the experiences of several young Australians so that
Australian community as well as government can become aware of the likely protest of the
future.
