AI Summary
This project management plan details the development of a new racing car for Volkswagen, a global leader in the automobile industry. The plan includes a comprehensive schedule, budget, and resource allocation for the project, spanning from the design phase to change management. It identifies potential risk factors, categorized as external, internal, and technical, and proposes mitigation strategies to address each. The external risks include delays in receiving components, lack of capital, and sudden unforeseen issues. Internal risks focus on postponement in approval and scope creep, while technical risks cover problems faced with equipment and machinery during manufacturing. Mitigation plans involve effective inventory management, budget discussions, agile methodology implementation, and enhanced communication. The project aims to develop a competitive racing car for Formula 1, emphasizing thorough testing and continuous improvement.

Topic: Development of a racing car for Volkswagen
Part A
Project purpose
Volkswagen is one of the global leaders in the automobile industry and the project will
propose a schedule, budget and resources of the project. The report will also identify the risk
factors and the probable way of mitigating risk.
Project scope
Project scope will include the different processes used for manufacturing a racing for the
company (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). The project will aim to develop a racing car which would
compete with the rival companies while participating in the Formula 1 Championship.
Project objective
The project objectives are as follows:
ï‚· Identification of technology used by the rival companies by conducting market research
ï‚· Identification of the software and hardware requirements
ï‚· Designing and developing a racing car
ï‚· Testing the car for improvements
Project Constraints
The time span of the project is high and the company will take almost two years to launch
the new racing car. The rival companies are developing new technologies so the new product
may not provide Volkswagen with competitive advantage (Abuwarda and Hegazy 2016). The
