Introduction
Racism is a discrimination or prejudice that is directed against a person who is based
on the belief of belonging to a race that is superior (Fanning, Bryan p. 16). It is a belief of a
group of people who have been dominating a group for a long period having the concept that
the race is inferior due to the complexion of their body. It has been prevalent in the European
countries due to their fair complexion that they are superior to other races. The paper will
help to understand the psychology that has been holding racism in their country.
Analysis of the case
Andrella David is a dark woman who has visited a store waiting for ice cream, where
she was being accused for shoplifting by the Sobeys staff. However, she was not involved in
any of the shoplifting incident. When she had asked for a video clip it was found that the
woman in the video was not she as it was a black woman, the staff considered her to be guilty
and claimed that she was the women in the video. As a result, she was being harassed for
being dark and she had to leave the place being upset and crying. According to Bell, Derrick
racial discrimination is a huge issue that has been prevalent in Canada. Almost 7 out of 10
dark people has faced racial discrimination in Canada. The Canadian government has been
taking numerous initiatives to stop racial discrimination.
Recommendation
According to Bell, Derrick, it is necessary that people must be educated and get to
know about racism that will help in resolving the issue of racism. It is necessary that people
must get to know the culture of the dark that will help in improving diversity in the society.
Hence, initiatives has been taken up by various organisations resolve racism.

Decision criteria
The people must understand that they have the equal rights as a white person. Hence,
various changes have been brought in the Human right commission ensuring safety and
protection for the dark or the people facing racism (Kivel, Paul p, 5).
Assumptions
A person, who is educated a well aware of racism will never promote racism. The
lack of knowledge and respect for any other caste or race will ensure that they do not perform
racism in the society. According to Lewis, Katie, and Annie David (p. 8), people must be
educated about racism and help in promoting an idea that will help in decreasing racism in
the society. An educated person will never lead to the condition that has taken place in
Sobeys store. Before claiming a person thief one must understand that this may not be the
same person. The roots of racism that has been holding the entire society not to develop.
Preferred Alternative with rationale
Initiatives has been taken by the government to eliminate racism with the
development of various kinds of laws that will help in safeguarding the human rights of the
inferior backward class (Loewen, James). These initiatives must be taken by the society as
well to ensure that there must not be any sort of discrimination faced by the dark people like
Andrella David.
Justification/Predicted
In the words of Noble, Safiya Umoja (p. 6), explains that racism has been continuing
due to the empowerment of the Europeans. It has been observed that the white has always
considered them as superior than other. Another reason of racism to be prevent is the rule of
European over various communities of the world. One cannot justify racism; it is a crime that
is being performed by any person. According to the Human Right Commission of Canada,

racism is one of the discrimination that has been holding the society to be developed. There is
a great impact on the dark as they lose self-confidence and consider themselves inferior. The
people facing racial discrimination must consider their strengths and fight for their rights in
spite of being bullied. They are the one who have to fight for their rights and come up with
justification that will help in development of a stable and healthy society.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that the existence of racism in the society will deplete the social
balance brining in changes in the attitude of the people. The initiatives must be taken by
people to ensure that skin colour is physical feature that cannot be reversed. Considering this
aspect will help in the development of the society and help in development of unity among
the people.
