Introduction:
In this report, the student will learn about the various different technologies required to check
before purchasing. Also, to check various configurations, details about each and every device
such as a laptop and desktop.
The Ransford college required a strategic roadmap to install different devices in different
classrooms. The student will be able to make a proper plan based on the research done.
The student will also learn and review different ICT technologies and their impact on the
current world.
They will learn about various threats which might occur when dealing with hardware and will
be able to prevent them.

Task 1: Determine Organisational needs
1.1 Scenario Given:
Due to the increase in student admissions, there’s an increased amount of requirement in
infrastructure, systems, devices, etc. Minimally, there would be at least 10 classrooms and
each classroom has to be equipped with 30 desktops at least. There would be an additional
requirement of projectors in each classroom along with laptops provided at the desks of
trainers. Laptops will be connected to the projectors in each class. The aim of the college is to
go paperless, and that’s why it is essential for each and every student to be fully equipped
with desktops in order to study well.
1.2 a) Selection criteria of the new technology:
Table 1: selection of devices
S.No. Devices Name Configuration
1. Desktop OMEN Desktop PC

b) Review the strategic goals of Ransford
A strategic goal of Ransford was to go paperless in the education sector. This would benefit
the organization in an immense way. Though the students would require desktops for
furthering their work. The college made a proposition to provide systems to all the
individuals in order to help them in their studies. Major benefits of this strategy of going
paperless is that:
1. reduce waste: One of the major benefits of this would be that it would help in
reducing waste and make a more sustainable and bright future. Reducing the
paperwork would help in preventing the destruction of trees, also, it requires approx.
6
Document Page
24 trees along with 90,000 litres of water to generate a ton of paper. It also costs a
huge amount of electricity and oil. Recycling of paper is also a hard task and requires
immense efforts.
2. Digital age: By reducing the traditional method, students would be introduced by the
digital age. They will be able to compete with new and different trends. Also, their
interest in studies would be maintained. They would also be able to compete in the
tech-savvy world (Cohen, 2018).
c) Determine the organization’s future requirements.
Issues is that because of increase in the number of new students, along with Ranford
proposing another new strategic plan to go paperless, there is a requirement of devices which
would be allocated to all the students so that they can study. In the near future, there will be
again an increase in the number of students. This will require more desktops to be provided,
also, the new students would require a proper classroom and labs to sit and study. Each
classroom would require a proper projector and a laptop connected to it.
More trainers would be needed to help students study and to manage the classrooms.
More infrastructure would be required for the seating of the new students. More classrooms
would be needed. Different labs would be needed for the students. Maintenance of all the
new devices would require a lab assistant to manage and operate everything.
d) Discuss physical infrastructure and financial parameters against Ransford’s
strategic goals
1.3: Plan based on the project’s requirements:
Table 2: suggested plan

Explain the reasons you think each of the supplier/vendors in your list could be suitable
for Ransford needs:
All of the vendors mentioned in the list above are mega companies which have been in the
market far too long. They specialize in delivering new technology products. They would be
good choices for Ransford.

2.4: Complete the review mentioned below:
Table 8: reviews
Review
List and explain two emerging industry standards and/or applications that you would
like the laptops, computers or projectors to have that you have not found during your
research?
-WiFi enabled projectors would be a better if used instead. Also, if the desktops could also
be of the latest 8th generation Intel processor. With better processing speed and resolution.
How much would these applications be beneficial to Ransford?
-Devices would be much faster and they would be long-lasting. With the latest processor
installed, any kind of software or heavy application would be easily executed.
How much would these applications cost and how long would it take to purchase and
install them?
The processor could be checked and bought at the time of placing the final purchase. Also,
anti-viruses could be installed in order to protect from any harmful threat. It would hardly
take a few hours to install.

Task 3: Evaluate and report on hardware technology options.
3.1: Review and test findings to identify suitability for Ransford requirements. More
specifically, you will need to visit the supplier stores with your trainer, see, test and
review your top choice of laptop, desktop, and projector. You will need to take and
attach pictures in the table provided below and provide comments regarding reviews.
Table 9: test and reviews
Test and review
Laptop pictures: Review: HP laptops are better and faster.
Also, they are cost-effective. They provide
lots of features within a certain budget limit.
Desktop pictures Review:
HP desktops are a better solution. Their
CPU power is much more than the other
brands. The processor is latest and cost-
effective.
Projector pictures Review: Epson projectors are a better
option. They have better features like high
resolution, higher battery backup, also they
have split monitor features along with
multiple connections.
3.2: List (3) risks you identified regarding your chosen hardware?
Compatibility: It is important to make sure that any new equipment should be compatible
with the existing devices.
Security: Parts when losing because of an accident, or theft, or simply destroyed should be
replaceable.
Life expectancy: Hardware life is shortly up to 3 to 4 years. If any damage has been done
before, then the performance efficiency gets demolished.
