INTRODUCTION
Comprehension is the perceptive and representation of what is read in order to understand
the reading material. Students required this ability to decode what they read and try to build
connection between what they read and what knowledge they already have. After this, they have
to deeply analyse the concept for better understanding (Afolabi and et.al., 2014). Retention is the
concept where to retail something for longer time in context of students, they have to retain their
learning in exam pint of view or for future knowledge. This report cover the various topics such
as evaluate the obstacle pertaining to build comprehensive & retention and its role to improve
quality of learning. It further beneficial in increasing academic achievement.

Role of building comprehension and retention in improving quality of learning and
increase academic achievement of students:
With the help of comprehension students able to enhance their learning various topics
which help them to improve their knowledge & capability. Basically, comprehension play
various role where they increase the enjoyment, effectiveness etc. It is not only beneficial in
academics but it provide various benefits in professional life as well. Such as improve quality of
learning which enhance the individual skills and knowledge (Strategies to increase reading
comprehension, 2018). Some of the comprehension & retaining role is discussed below which
help in increasing academics achievements:
According to Felt 2015, Comprehending and retaining is necessary in developing a skill
in the individual to make critical reader and thinker in their field. In order to improve their skill,
student have to build a strong foundation in reading retention and comprehension. It helps in
addressing the issues regarding reading comprehension and use of reading strategies. With the
help of reading comprehension, readers also able to answer the general question which ask by the
teacher between the process of reading material. Best way to increase understanding as well as
try to remember things is to read loud and teachers have to monitor it.
It helps in promoting cooperative talk because after a reading loud, teachers evaluate that how
much students understand. It also help in understating text structure through reading all the
headings and sub-headings, along with some graph and charts which provide necessary
information (Yeari, 2017).

where they understand the reading material but enable to execute or express what they

it will affect them at the time of executing their learning because of this disorder.

their reading comprehension as well as retention. School or collages have to provide appropriate
content as per the requirement of student level. Such as if student in 10th class and but still read
the 11th class reading material. So it will defiantly generate the problem regarding reading
comprehension and retention.

very important for students. Because help them to increase their learning skills and ability to
