INTRODUCTION
Important reading techniques will help a student in becoming a more efficient reader
There are some techniques that helps in enhancing the reading skills of a reader, like scanning,
skimming, mind mapping and detailed reading. This report is consists of some methods of note
making, that also helps the students in remembering the new information or idea. Methods like
mind mapping, the sentence method and chart method, are helpful in memorizing new
information.
MAIN BODY
Helpful reading techniques that helps a student in becoming a more efficient reader
Reading is the method of communication that helps a person to bring writing into
meaning. It allows a reader to transom a written content into a meaningful term of language with
independence and fluency to communicate the message. There are some reading techniques that
helps a student to become a more efficient reader. They are as follows.
Scanning
It is a reading strategy, it is used in getting some specific points by just looking at the
whole text. Highlighting the main points of a content, a reader have to skim through the
summary of the begging and last of the content (Bachmann, Eisenegger, and Ingenhoff, 2022). It
will help a reader in saving its time. Scanning is a less time-consuming method for a reader to
become more efficient reader.
Skimming
This reading technique is used as, getting a gist of the whole book lead. A reader
generally use this method in reading newspaper in most of the times (Fu, and et. al 2022). It is
helpful in getting the preview of a whole paragraphs before start reading it in detail and helps a
student in reviving the understandings of a passage after reading it. It is useful in gaining more
knowledge for a reader, and gives helpful result in its more efficiency of reading.
Active reading style
This is referred as an in depth reading style of the content. Under this method a reader is
actively engaged with the book while reading it (Blohm, and et. al, 2022). This reading technique
is used in some complex and critical study. In depth reading helps a reader in acquiring the more

knowledge in detail, that help in increasing the efficiency of reading in a student. Active reading
is time-consuming method but in other hand, it also gives very effective result in respect of
becoming a more efficient reader.
Speed reading
This reading style is a combination of all the reading methods. This style focuses on
aiming the speed of reading, it is helpful In increasing the speed of reader in reading. There are
technique involved in increasing the speed of the reading like, finding words without focusing on
every letter, not to sound every word, consuming less time on some phrases then others and
skimming the short sections. This will help a student in getting better results in respect to its
reading
Structure- Position-Evaluation
This technique of reading is majorly applicable to non-fictional writing. This technique
suggests a reading a pattern to a reader, for example examine and studying the structure of the
structure of work, studying the important and logical part of the content and then evaluating the
advantages of the discussion and its conclusion (Fu, and et. al 2022). This reading pattern will
help a reader in becoming more effective and efficient reader.
Detailed reading
This reading technique is used for, bringing out the exact information from the whole
content. Under this technique a reader will read every word of the content for understanding the
meaning of the whole content (Chavat, and et. al 2022). It is a careful reading style, a reader can
skim the content first for getting a normal idea and then a reader can start reading in detail again.
A reader will use a dictionary in help, to find the meaning of every new word. This will result in
the increasing efficiency of a reader.
The Survey-Questioned-Read-Recite-Review.
This technique includes five different steps, they are as follows:
Survey- this refers to the, getting a quick idea of the whole content, by only reading the
introduction or the summary of the content.
Question- a reader will not just read the text, but also actually trying to make an
underlying meaning of the content, by preparing questions in mind and its answers while
reading.
Read- a reader should always selectively, if they are looking for something particular.

Recite- a reader will answer the questions in its words by using only keywords, which are
required to wind up the whole idea.
Review- a reader should always review the whole things in its mind, these five steps will
help a reader in becoming more efficient reader.
Note making methods, that will help a reader in remembering information.
Note making is process of reviewing, connecting, and combining ideas from the lectures
or by reading. Note making is not just about, writing down the everything an individual hear, but
to write only the important points from a content. There are some methods of making notes, they
are as follows:
The outline method
This method is used for simplicity. It the easiest method of making notes, under this
method a student makes the key points, that covers the all informative test from the content.
Under those key point, a reader makes it sub pints to understand it in better way (Baert, Morgan,
and Ushiyama 2022). It will help a reader to remember the whole content by just looking at key
point from the prepared notes. This method helps in making notes in a well organized manner
from the beginning. It will build a relationship between the topic and sub point. Under this
method a student majorly focuses on the important part of the content, to write down about. This
results in save its time and also be useful in reading the notes effectively. This method is most
common in making notes.
The Cornell method
It is most common used method of making notes. This method is almost similar to the
outline method of note making. Under this method, the students makes key points like in outline
method, but the difference is this method goes deeper in the detailing of key points (Müller-
Gronbach, and Yaroslavtseva,2022). It more organized than outline method because the page is
divided into three sections: the narrow column called the 'cue' , the wider column for the actual
notes and then the summary at the end. The first cue section is for main points or questions. That
helps in recalling the big topics. The second section of note is consisted of the explanation of
points, that falls under the cue section. The third section is the summary section, where the write
up end by summarizing of the information. This method is very effective in remembering the
whole content or information for a reader.

Flow notes method.
This method is concerned with the maximization of active learning from whole content or
from lectures., it saves time in reviewing the content. In this method a student jot downs the topic
s and start making arrows, doodles (Lim, and Park, 2022). Diagrams and graphs to get general
idea from the whole content. This method is less time consuming and unorganized in viewing.
Under this method the informations reminds the reader of another piece of information or
technique, make note and write it down. Jotting down of notes is beneficial for a student to
improvise its remembering in information from the content.
Charting method.
Making charts of notes will help in highlighting the key pieces of information on
different topics, in an organized way of viewing the key points (Johannssen, Chukhrova, and
Castagliola, 2022). Chart method involves the splitting an information into different columns and
rows, that are being filled with summaries of information. This results in a note formate that
helps in efficient comparison between the various topics and ideas from the content. It enables a
student in recalling the new information from the content effectively.
The sentence method
It is a easy method and is a lesser version of flow notes. The basic concept behind this
method is making simple notes (Liu, and et. al, 2022). A reader jots down everything according
to the best of its ability. The only problem this method has is that, it is tough to keep up
everything else that is happening. If a reader is writing notes by hands, then definitely be miss
key point and ideas. This method provides the most details and information for review, a reader
can still be brief by covering main points, the notes are already simplified for a reader to study
and review them on immediate basis, it will help the students In remembering all the new
information.
Conclusion
From the above report it is concluded that, reading techniques such as skimming,
scanning, active reading and detailed reading, are helpful in making an efficient reader. These
techniques are effective for a reader in becoming more efficient reader. The different methods of
note are very useful for a student, in remembering the new information from any content or text.
Effective note making helps a student in learning new things very easily.
