INTRODUCTION
Reading plays a critical role in the life of the students. There are variety of reading
techniques that can be used by the students. All the students are different from one another and
they must use the reading techniques according to their preference (Haerazi and Irawan, 2020).
By reading effectively the students are able to enhance their learning power and retain the
information for longer duration of time. In this essay some of the important reading techniques
are mentioned so that the students are able to learn properly. In the end, own experience of the
reading are discussed in the report.

Reading techniques and their importance
Reading can be defined as a cognitive process that helps in understanding the meaning of
the phrases written. It is an active process that helps reader to attain the goal and focus their
attention. The purpose of reading is to connect the ideas and enhance knowledge. There are
different techniques that can be used by students to read properly. The techniques of reading
along with its importance is discussed below.
The students must read with pencil in hand. The student is unable to understand the
meaning of some words by reading the first time. There is need to mark the words and check
their meaning. Use of pencil helps them to underline the works that are important and phrases
that they need to revise (Sirait and Hutauruk, 2020). It is better to use pencil as helps the students
to study by maintain neatness and canninesses. There are some students that use colourful
highlighter to underline. This create challenge for them at the time studying them again. This
also reduces professionalism and the makes the book colourful. Any mistake can be erased if it is
done with the help of pencil but on the other side highlighter can not erased.
Draw and sketch is another important technique that can be used by students in order to
read properly. The use of this technique is time taking and required more attention. In this
technique the student take a clean sheet of paper and then they create diagram so that they are
able to revise the topic properly. They can also use the same to make notes of all the important
points so that they are able to revise the same. The use of this techniques plays an important role
at the time students wants to do revision (Ardhian and et.al., 2020). The students does not need
to read all the concept again. They can check the diagram and remember the concept.

Read again and again is a technique under which the students need to read the book
again and again. If the topics are difficult for the student, there is need to read the same again and
again. The use of right technique help the student to understand the concept that is difficult for
them. This enhances the understanding regarding the topic and the student is able to retain the
information for longer duration of time. By reading a concept again the retention power of the
same enhances. It will help the student to understand better and perform effectively at the time of
examination.
One of the vital reading technique is create a preliminary outline. This strategy states
that students must create an outline of a difficult chapter. By analysing the requirements in the
starting the student is able to know about the requirement in proper manner. This will prepare the
students to read in proper manner (Namaziandost, Gilakjani and Hidayatullah, 2020). The use of
proper outline will help to read in proper manner. The students get mentally prepared that makes
them a good reader as well as learner. There is need of learning properly so that the same can
help them future. There is need of using the technique in proper manner and achieving the goals
of reading and retaining knowledge properly.

I need proper silence and good environment to read and learn. I read with full
concentration so that there is proper understanding of the topic. I am good at remembering the
information that I have grabbed so that I am able to read properly. I read on daily basis and the
habit helps me carry on the activities properly. If I am unable to understand the meaning properly
then I use dictionary at the same time. The use of proper resources such as pencil and copy help
me to carry on the work properly. All the sentences that I feel important are being underlined so
that I am able to learn them. All the works that I check on dictionary are written by me in a copy
and revised. This enhances my vocabulary. If I find any topic hard, I ask my peer to explain the
same to me. But, now I have understood that there is need of reading the same again and again as
it simplifies the process. It will help me to remember the information (Aritonang, Lasmana and
Kurnia, 2019). Along with that I will also develop the habit of forming notes and diagrams. It
will help me to revise the topic in proper manner and without more efforts. The use of right
reading techniques help me to carry on reading properly. I need proper learning environment so
that I am able to read properly.

CONCLUSION.
From the above essay, it is concluded that reading is the process that enhances the
knowledge of the students. It becomes important for all the students to develop the habit oif
reading properly and retaining the knowledge. In the essay there is evaluation related to four
different techniques of reading. The importance of these techniques are also mentioned as they
help to select the best technique among them. In the end, experience and reading techniques used
is done.
