Discussion & Results
With all these different research methods, this can be formulated that building a strong
vocabulary can be conducted by implementing and utilizing a mixed bag strategy. Though
students learn easily through the games like Kahoot and Quizlet, the process of reading,
repetition of new words, prior knowledge, and various other vocabulary building activities
are important for the students (Alqahtani, 2015).
According to the survey, the most important factor that has been identified is collective
learning. A student takes the first help from their friends and even group members. Therefore,
due to this approach, the students who help and students who need help, both learn together
(Bavi, 2018). Also, according to the observation in the ESOL and Literacy class, clustering
was one of the most prominent activities that were performed on a regular basis. With the
help of this simple approach, students tend to learn in a more detailed manner that helps the
students in remembering the new words more strongly due to practicing clustering (Gürkan,
2018).
In addition to this, it should also be noted that the importance of individual exercises and
group exercises is equal. For the group exercises, it can be done that specific groups are built
according to the common interest of people. This will help in engaging the students more in
their learning. Furthermore, new words should also be associated with the interest of the
students. This will help in encouraging the students to increase their vocabulary further. This
activity can be conducted with the help of high colorful graphics (Hung, 2015). This will help
the students in visualizing the words in a better way, along with solving the problem of
vocabulary block, which students face many times. Students have the attribute of enjoying
the high graphics and animated graphics, which helps them in learning new words in a better
way through this graphical method. This activity is effective with an individual student or a

group of students. In the group process, it is the tendency of students to discuss the different
visuals with the entire group, which will help in stronger learning (Lane & Allen, 2019).
According to the interview of the teachers, this has been recognized that two practices
that are paramount for learning new words are, re-reading and repetition of words. By the
process of continuous reading, students tend to utilize their knowledge and also, in case of
being unaware of the new words, students many a time, utilizes “use of context”. By
practicing these two activities regularly, students learn to elaborate on their knowledge and
vocabulary immensely (Muhanna, 2012). But it is even more important for students to utilize
this knowledge in their daily activities and conversations. Otherwise, the students will not be
able to remember the new words for long and also, their knowledge would not extend further.
Thus, it is important for students to be continuously involved with different activities, where
they can utilize their new words effectively.
The impact of new games application like Quizlet and Kahoot on improving the student’s
vocabulary is enormous. Firstly, both these games application are extremely effective in
improving the vocabulary of the children by introducing them with new words. In addition to
this, these games present the same words with different context and scenario, as to implement
repetition of words. Though it is an effective approach which the game utilizes, for some
students, it can be a confusing task, as the different scenarios and context, can increase the
level of confusion in the mind of the students (Steele & Mills, 2011). This is a known fact
that with the help of interesting games, student’s vocabulary can be improved immensely.
Also, this helps in increasing the curiosity in students, to engage in more such fun activities to
learn new words. The games like crosswords, scrabbles and many other, gives the students
the opportunity to implement the new words in use, helping the students to strengthen their
vocabulary. In addition to this, the games which involve repetitive pronouncing and spelling
of words helps the students to enjoy the process of learning new words. If these activities are

performed in a group like quiz games and puzzles, then students also learn the true meaning
of teamwork and the importance of competition.
Thus, with all these different discussions, which is based on the interview, survey, and
observations, this can be stated as the final result, that for students to learn new words and
enhance their vocabulary –
It is important that students attain the habit of regular reading and also practice
clustering. In addition to this, it is even more important for the students to utilize the
new words they have learned in their day to day activities.
It is important for teachers to plan different fun activities involving graphics, word
spelling, and pronunciation practices. It is for strengthening the memory of new words
of the students.
It is paramount that students learn the importance of individual activities and group
activities, and give them equal importance. There are many students who do not like
individual activities and some would not like group activities, the teacher has an
important role to play in this aspect, as it is their duty to help the children in
understanding the difference the between the two, along with making them understand
the importance of both the activities (Wang, Teng & Chen, 2015).
Teachers also have to encourage the students to read and re-read. The teacher also has
to ensure that the children utilize the practice of prior knowledge, use of context,
questioning, summarizing, and many other activities that will help the children in
understanding the new words in a better way and also, in remembering them clearly.
At last, technology has a humongous impact on the current generation and it is
important that the students utilize it for their benefit. The games application Kahoot
and Quizlet will help the children in improving their vocabulary, but students should
not rely only on these or similar games. The other activities have equal importance.

The current generation is addicted to technology and it has the power to divert the
students from different other activities, which are crucial too.
