This report presents an analysis of global food production and consumption data, utilizing real-time analytics to derive actionable insights. The project, undertaken for the ITECH7407 course, examines a dataset from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, focusing on the production of food for human consumption versus feed for animals. The report employs the IBM Watson platform to create dashboards visualizing trends, outliers, and comparisons between different food elements and regions. Key findings include the steady increase in cereal production, the dominance of China in meat production, and the identification of top food-producing and consuming countries. The analysis also explores the consumption of various food items and provides recommendations for efficient food resource management, emphasizing the importance of balancing demand and supply, and the role of feed production in meeting the needs of a growing global population. The report concludes with recommendations for a CEO of a food consulting firm.
