Data Mining Project: Real-World Algorithm Implementation Analysis

This term project assignment focuses on evaluating students' understanding of data mining. Students, in groups of up to three, are tasked with researching a specific algorithm within the realm of Information Security and its practical application in real-world organizations such as Alrajhi Bank, Imam University, or others. The project requires a comparative analysis of the algorithm's implementation across two or more organizations, highlighting differences in its application across various fields like medical, academic, and business. The assignment culminates in a detailed report, including a literature review of the chosen method, its implementation details, and the types of Information Security employed. The report must adhere to specific formatting guidelines, including font, margins, and the use of headings, tables, and figures. Additionally, students must prepare a concise presentation, limited to ten slides, summarizing their findings. Grading will be based on formatting, the report's content, and the presentation quality, with individual contributions also being assessed.

INTRODUCTION:
The final assignment for the semester is a term project. The course project is
intended to evaluate your understanding of the topic of data mining in general, the
course itself in specific, and sense the knowledge of data mining in the real world.
The main purpose of this assignment is to allow students to explore a topic of
interest while demonstrating mastery of the material presented in the course. This
is a group project with at most 3 students.
PROJECT IDEAS:
You have to search on a specific algorithm in Information Security where it is
implemented in the real life organizations such as ( Alrajhi Bank, imam University,
Alshumaisi Hospital, Amazon…….etc), you have to choose two or more organizations
using the same algorithm and differentiate between the implementation of each
field such as (Medical, Academic, Business, …..) . Furthermore, prepare a report.
Your report should address the following:
1. Introduction to the organization and the method used
2. State of the art literature review of the method, how it is
implemented, what type of Information Security they are using.
REPORT:
Report should show the different way of implementing the algorithm according to
the field of real life to understand the benefit for the algorithm in different era.
LAYOUT AND FORMAT

One of the most important requisites in preparation of the report is consistency of format and
adherence to the specific instructions given below.
Font
 The report should be written in English. It must be typewritten in a clear and legible font (i.e.,
Times New Roman, 12).
 Single spacing should be used in long Tables, block quotations separated from the text,
footnotes, and bibliographical entries.
 An empty line must be left between paragraphs. Larger size fonts may be used for the title of
the report.
 The report should be free from grammatical, lexical and punctuation errors. In addition to the
computer spellchecker, the report should be proof-read to check that errors do not remain that
are not detected by the spellchecker.
 The report should consistently use either American or British spelling but should not alternate
between the two.
 When using numbers in the text, if the first word of a sentence is a number, it should be
written in words.
 Writers not fluent in English are encouraged to have their manuscript professionally edited
before submission, to improve the English.
Margins
All pages of the report must have the following uniform margins throughout the entire document:
 A margin of 1″ on the left, right, top and the bottom.
Captions and numbering (Tables and Figures)
 Each Table should carry a number and a title clearly describing the data presented.
 Each Figure / Illustration should carry a number and caption that clearly describes the nature
of data presented.
 The caption should be at the bottom of the Figures and at the top of Tables (on the same
page).
 Number them consecutively throughout, in the order in which they are placed in the text.
 The Figures, Graphs, Tables should be embedded in the text of the report, immediately after
the first mention of it in the text, on the same page if there is room, or on the following page.
 All Tables and Figures must be referred to in the text by numbers and not by a phrase such as
"the following table".
 Tables or Figures of peripheral importance to the text may be placed in an Appendix.
Appropriate use of headings and subheadings
Headings should be distinguished from the surrounding text by a larger font size, bolding, italics,
or a combination of these.

All headings of the same level should use the same style, and headings at lower levels should be
less prominent than those at higher levels.
Example:
 Heading for section (Times New Roman 16 point - Bold)
 Heading for sub-section (Times New Roman 14 point - Bold)
 Heading for part of subsection- (Times New Roman 12 point- Bold Italic)
All headings should be left aligned. The headings and subheadings should be numbered.
PRESENTATION:
Limit your presentation to ten slides only excluding any references. Each group will
be assigned a 10 minutes slot where half of this time will be spend on the
presentation and half on question/answers.
GRADING:
Grading will be based upon the following in the decreasing order of priority
1. Formatting
2. Report
3. Presentation
Each student will be individually graded of his contribution to the project.
