Culture is the belief, art and costume of the specific group that is transmitted by one

the part of particular society. As per acculturation the student or the child gets exposed to various
cultures so due to the prolonged contact with other people, individual and group one adapt new
habits (Yoon, E. & et. al., 2012). On the basis of defined case Rebecca spend most of the time
with her friends in school due to which she likes listening hip hop song as that's the other culture
she is exposed too. Contrary, Enculturation is basically a process under the child observe the
surrounding and develop the specific values via unconscious repetition (Skeggs, 2013). Based on
this culture the Clarence wanted to give right atmosphere to Rebecca so that on the basis of
social interaction she inculcate the right habits and remain close to her culture. Therefore, this
was the main reason for Clarence to stops hip hop song because he wanted to utilised the short
span of time that is hardly 20 minutes to instil the right values on her grand daughter. Hence, due
to which he used to share the story of their time and prefer playing honour song instead of hip
hop ones.

Self concept is simply the image of oneself which include their personal feelings,
strength, abilities, aspiration and weakness. There are basically four sources of self concept that
is other's image of you, comparison with other, self evaluation and cultural teachings (Oyserman,
Elmore & Smith, 2012). In case of Rebecca her self concept is influenced by the other images of
you and cultural teachings.
Other image of you: In order to develop the self concept Rebecca usually gets influences
by how and what the other peers thinks about her. This is most common amongst teenagers who
perceive their surrounding and try to adapt suitable behaviour so that one can create significant
image in the group. Like, the other person reveals the inner image or the behaviour of the person
on the basis of how one treat other's. So an individual at different phases of the life perceive the
lives of different individual to develop a right behaviour (Hunt, Atkin & Krishnan, 2012).
Although Rebecca listens to her grandfather but at the same time she concerns that what her

always makes the best possible effort to make Rebecca understand their culture and follow it for
her welfare.

At the end of the ride Clarence was disappointed the way Rebecca turned off the Honor
song once she reached the school. On the basis of her behaviour Clarence though that his grand
daughter is least interested in understanding their Blackfoot culture. Along with that as he talked
about the importance of learning and concentrating in the school work by sharing his early
childhood story. So he was bit hurt as Clarence thought Rebecca is giving less preference and
can develop negative behaviour towards him. Thus, instead of this Clarence need to understand
the stage and self concept of Rebecca that even she is try to develop her image. So instead of get
disappointed and taking quick actions like stopping the hip hop song he need to understand and
remain open and encourage the learning of Rebecca.

To check the perception of Rebecca, Clarence can simple indulge into the interactive
session where both of them discusses about their experiences and especially can focus on the
learning Rebecca gather each day from the lectures delivered in the school. In this case both of
them can establish goof relation and understand each other perception. Additionally, this exercise
can especially help Rebecca to develop the self concept where she can carry forward her own
culture effectively.
