This is regarding the discussion you had with Alex Biggs, the owner of the company,
Recon Services. We understand your concern about the rooftop deck and its repair and
maintenance. Recon had built the deck about ten years ago and with full guarantee. We agree
with you that the rooftop deck built by Recon is in bad shape. However, there are apprehensions
regarding fixing the desk without any charges. I hope you would be satisfied after going through
the explanations given here forth.
Explanation
Closer inspection has revealed that the deck floorboards have rotted away and some of
the railings have fallen because of the rotting wood. As Recon Services always uses good
quality material, it is guaranteed that only top quality material was used to construct the deck.
Thus, there is no reason to doubt the quality of workmanship behind the deck construction.
Alex is confident that only good materials were used in the construction of the deck and

quality material need proper care and looking after. The primary reason why the deck is in the

declined a low-cost maintenance contract offered by Recon Services. The contract provided a
guarantee, annual cleaning, and reapplication of the sealant. If the low-cost maintenance contract
had been signed with Recon Services, the deck would be in excellent condition today.
Bad News
Based on the above-listed information and facts, it is evident that a free deck repair is not
possible as at no point Recon Services can be held accountable for the poor condition of the deck
today.
Alternatives
However, Alex is willing to offer a discount of 20% on repair services and would prefer
that a maintenance contract is signed so that any such issues don’t arise in the future. He is also
willing to offer a 10% discount on the maintenance contract.
