1AMERICAN HISTORY
In the history of America the time from 1863-1877 was the era of Reconstruction. With
the Reconstruction Act after the second civil war ,slavery and remnants of associate nationalism
ended, leading to the formation of slave free citizens with all the national rights, assured by
three new amendments of constitution. Abraham Lincoln wrote his first Emancipation
Proclamation on July 22, 1862 plan. On 1 Jan 1863, the genuine Emancipation Proclamation was
being issued, and was named as ten states, in this each slaves were set free forever. However
many slaves died in emancipation from illness (McCargish, 2015). President Lincoln further
came up with the proposal on Reconstruction for Confederate State of Louisiana. This plan
approved the amnesty to Rebels who took pledge of loyalty towards the Union. The ten percent
plan asked the electorate to take the loyalty oath to abolish the slavery, will restore the union,
and will form a new well-organized government. The states under military office followed this
plan. Wade-Davis Bill made it clear that Congress will dictate the condition of construction and
not the president. Radical of Republicans in congress was proposed. The new government was
decided to be ruled by those men who never got involved against Union. The Radicals followers
lost support, but Wade–Davis Bill regained his power after Lincoln's murder in mid
1865.Jhonson became the new president after Lincoln’s assassination. According to the act
reconstruction in 1867, it divided south in 5 military states governed by Union generals. For the
14th amendment state to be readmitted it became necessary that the congress accepts the new
constitution. The state was divided in the Carpetbaggers, from north part and the Scalawags, the
poor white from southern part. With the three consecutive amendment acts, the citizens got their
rights reserved. Thus, the reconstruction ended with removal of federal troops and the democrats
regained their power over last three southern states.
