LITERATURE REVIEW
It is necessary research part that gives the effective theoretical examination that use
secondary method of data collection. Under this, investigator uses different secondary sources
like journals, books, internet sources and many others.
Relation among recruitment and selection and globalisation
According to opinion of Jill Harness (2019) Recruitment is process of measuring job
needs and searching prospective candidates which are encouraged as well as stimulated for job in
company. In this, recruitment programme is mainly designed to attract the more people which
applies for job and company has more number of options to choose best out of them. This is
procedure to search the manpower sources in order to meet with schedule of staffing and the
employee measures in order to attracting that manpower in the numbers to facilitate better
selection of effective working force. On the other hand, selection is a process of choosing and
short-listing of right candidates with required skills and qualifications to fill vacant job position.
It is related to weeding out the unsuitable applicants and also choosing those with prerequisite
qualifications and well as the capabilities to fill jobs at workplace. It is interviewing and
examining candidates for particular job and choosing right person on the basis of certain criteria.
Globalisation is process of integration and interaction between people, organisations and
government in all over world. This is considered through some as capitalist form that entails an
integration of local and the national economies in to global market economy. An expansion of
the global markets can liberalise economic activities of exchange of products (ICavusgil and et.
al., 2014).
Recruitment and selection plays a necessary role in making the business globalise. In this,
company hire the talented and experienced employee who can perform the business activities at
global level. Under this, management provide training to employees and also aware them about
culture of other country. In this manner, firm can able to conduct its business at global level
successfully and gain competitive benefits.
Positive/negative influence of globalisation on business expansion of M & S in emerging market
As per opinion of Ethan Pendleton (2019) Globalisation is normal work in this business
environment where the various countries are integrating with the each other. It plays a necessary
role in economic development of various countries in world mainly in developed. Marks &

Spencer is an international retail company and it provides the high quality of goods and services
of people such as home items, clothings and food products. Emerging market are those
economies that industrialisation grow at rapid pace while experiencing rapid enhancement in
environment efficiency. In globalisation, regional and national economies, cultures and societies
have integrated by global trade network, transportation, communication and immigration. In
addition to this, there is a positive impact of globalisation on the business expansion of Marks &
Spencer in to emerging market. It helps in save cost from maximising the production volume.
From expanding the business in emerging countries, company can able to target more number of
consumers and determine their needs for providing them high quality services or products. From
this, Marks & Spencer can gain the competitive benefits in an easy manner (Dmour and et. al.,
2015).
Globalisation provide benefits to the company to enhance its target market and also gain
the more benefits. It is necessary for an organisation to determine needs and wants of consumers
and also fulfil them accordingly. It will help in develop positive impact on mindset of the
consumers. On the other hand, emerging markets have developing upper class population. These
customers are interested in buying the luxury products which are not available in region. So,
Marks& Spencer can take the benefit of this opportunity to reach at consumers which never has
opportunities to buy them (Gammeltoft, Filatotchev and Hobdari, 2012). The business can gain
the goodwill when it can able to tell domestic consumers that it is going to be expanded in
emerging economy. In addition to this, running international organisation may earn new business
as several consumers and the people people enjoy to working with company whose each extend
at global level.
Revise R & S strategy by M & S to achieve maximum benefit/advantage from globalisation
According to opinion of PAIGE GARNER (2019) Recruitment and selection is explained
as process by which better people are chosen between pool of the applicants for specific job
positions. In this, managers actually try to match skills, abilities and knowledge of applicants
with job requirements. The recruitment and selection of right employee for the each position can
be lead to minimize cost and also leading to improved bottom line. It is a responsibility of
Human Resource Manager to hire the well qualified and capable employee which can able to
perform business operations effectively. Marks & Spencer company employed almost 71000
people in UK 75000 in all over world. This company has lowest employee turnover rate in UK

Marks & Spencer used the external recruitment and selection strategy that provides
chance to other candidates to show their talent and skills. The different strategies used by
company are social media, application tracking systems, college placement etc. These all are the
effective ways to recruit the employees from outside company and also select from them on the
basis of their capabilities (Keep and James, 2016). Company use the intranet network to post the
information regarding vacancy as well as reach to people which it want to target. In addition to

METHODOLOGY
Methodology is theoretical and systematic analysis of methods which applied to area of
study. This is system of wider principles from which particular procedures or methods many be
derived to be interpret the various issues within scope of specific discipline. Under this, research
onion framework is more effective because it explains all the steps or methods which helps in
conducting an investigation in systematic manner (Glaister and et. al., 2014). Different layers
included in research onion mention below:
Research Philosophy
It is set of the principles which concerning world view from which an investigation is to
be conducted. This is related to knowledge development in specific area. An investigator adopts
this layer in particular study for reflect necessary assumptions about opinions. The research
philosophy is formation of the knowledge and character that is developed already. It will impact
on research strategy that is related to plan that adopt for conducting an investigation effectively.
Different research philosophies mention below:
Interpretivism philosophy- This philosophy is helpful in interpret how the people see
their own actions and others. It is helpful in understand culture of people and also participation in
to social life (Kothari, Kotabe and Murphy, 2013).
Positivism philosophy- This uses the research questions which can be properly tested. It
aids to search explanation through using accepted people knowledge. It assumes that the
knowledge is independent of subject area that is being studied.
In this present investigation, interpretivism philosophy has been used because it claims
that the people observe own perception and well as understanding about reality. The reason of
using this strategy is that it aids in collect information on impact of recruitment and selection on
expanding business at global level (Li, Zhang and Lyles, 2013).
Research Approach
It determines foundation of research strategy and gives direction to research methods. It
is considered as assessment of different methods which used in to scientific inquiry and helpful

in determination of interaction among logic and observation. Various research approaches
mention below:
6

Inductive approach- The non- numerical data is used in an investigation so that
outcomes of numerical analysis can be substantiated. This research approach enable an
investigator to identify different things which happening at worldwide in context to recruitment
and selection (Mishkin, 2014).
Deductive approach- In this, previously existing theories are mainly used for presenting
hypothesis concerned with particular situation for empirical evidences. Main constructs of study
can be verified on the basis of inductively developed constructs. The findings which derived
from gathered data would either reject and confirm research hypothesis or questions.
This research has been taken into consideration on inductive research approach because it
begins with the observation that an investigator uses to develop new theory (Noe and et. al.,
2017).
Research Strategies
This layer is research onion states about plan of an investigator to gather data for giving
answers related to recruitment and selection questions. It explains how an investigator intends to
carried out work in an effective manner. It consists the various strategies for an instance surveys,
case study, systematic literature review, action research and many others (Sinha and et. al.,
2012).
In this present investigation, survey has been considered beneficial strategy because it
helps in gather the reliable data and information in a better manner. This is used to observe the
contributing variable between the different data. This strategy helps in gather wider data that will
be used to answer research questions in an effective way (Scheela and Jittrapanun, 2018).
Research choice
It considered the qualitative and quantitative methodology which helps in conducting the
research in significant manner. Selection of research type is main key consideration considering
the whole project whose focus is on selecting the type of an investigation. The collection
includes information obtained by an investigator. It includes mono method, multi methods and
mixed method (Panibratov, 2016).
Mono method has been used in this research and using the qualitative method because
this is used to gather and test the textual data like interviews, observations etc. In this, an
investigator is urged to include selection of sample to study and also generalise outcomes to
whole population. It is helpful in provide the reliable and accurate data in an effective manner.

Time horizon
It explains necessary time for completion of project work. It consists the different time
period that helps in completing research activities on the basis of set time period. Cross-
sectional and longitudinal are two different kinds of time horizons (Zhang and et. al., 2014).
Cross- sectional- It is established already where data should be gathered. It is used when
an investigator is focused with study of specific phenomenon at particular time period (Sparrow,
2012).
Longitudinal- Under this, data collection repeatedly over extended time period and used
where necessary factor for an investigation is evaluating over a period of time. This time horizon
needs use of the repeated studies over time period to determine correlation among observations
and also changes between outcomes over various tome period (Singh and et. al., 2018).
Data collection
This is used to explain ways as well as purposes of an investigation that conducted in a
proper manner. It is necessary for an investigator to select the right methods and sources to
gather information and data in a better manner (Timming, 2015). Primary and secondary are two
different kinds of data collection methods:
Primary method- Through this, data has been collected directly from different sources
such as questionnaire, observation, interviews etc. Under this, data is gathered from first hand
sources. It gives outcomes of structured questionnaire with results which are used in an effective
manner.
Secondary method- This is derived from work of the other investigators. Under this
method, data has been collected already and through this researcher can collect the information
from in minimum time period (Kang and Shen, 2013). Various sources to gather secondary data
are books, internet sources, journals etc.
In this present investigation, primary data collection method has been used also develop

DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATIONS
From the outcomes, selected audience is managers because they have the better
understanding regarding activities and the policies related to recruitment and selection of
company. They are aware about the recruitment and selection criteria in company. In order to
communicate the research outcomes to managers, investigator will use the written report by
including all the necessary things or content related to research. In literature review, I found the

activities and few participants which do not take interest in providing data. In order to overcome
from these issues, I tried my best to present in the research ethical, reliable and appropriate
information or data. I developed the proper time management plan and divide all activities on the
basis of specific time period. There is a limitation to collection of data from using authentic
sources. I got the new idea to conduct the other investigation in future by developing plan and set
all the activities.
Alternative Research Methodology
Investigator uses various methods to gather accurate information regarding research. The
questionnaire has been developed in this research project because it will help to obtain accurate
and relevant information on the analysis. There is an alternative method of questionnaire and that
is interview. As this will be useful as well as necessary to collect accurate data on subject for a
researcher. There are various interview advantages like easy speech correction, relationship
development, primary information collection, time savings, less expensive etc. Therefore,
accumulating information regarding topic is necessary method for an investigator.
