Human resource management act as a pillar of strength in the organisation. Its
responsible for the management of the people in the firm. They are responsible to recruit new
people and train them so that the competency can be maintained in the firm. Human resource is
the only resource of the firm that has potential of growth and development. By focusing on the
growth of staff the firm can bring efficiency in their working. In current report The purple mail
company has been taken into account, its one of the leading courier company of UK, but in
current time it's going through management and administrative problem along with this company
also have high employee turnover. The current report will provide with proper recruitment and
selection process that can help firm in its improvement along with it will also provide with skill
and attribute of leadership and management so that the management of the firm can be
improved.
TASK 1
1.1 Documentation of selection and recruiting process
The documentation of process include following agenda that are necessary for this
process. Identifying the need and job description: In this stage manager try to find the gap that is
created after the employees and had left the firm. It conducts a research and try to find
the area or position that are needed to be fill (Kuppuswamy and et. al., 2017). It also
includes the job that firm has to offer along with the requirement it demands with
candidates. Recruitment planning: In this whole process of recruitment is map out. That what
method of selection will be chosen, the platforms through which the firm can attract
potential candidates. The interview panel etc., Sourcing and advertising: In this stage manager try to create talent pool by advertising
and inviting candidates for the job. In order to create this pool the manger make sure that
all possible platform are used to advertise their product, such as newspaper magazine
company website, other job websites etc. Assessing and interviewing a candidate: Every firm has its own selection process. The
firm in order to select best candidates the firm can review the CV of the candidate and
can pass those candidates who pass the minimum criteria of the firm. After this it can

conduct a test where the writing skill and knowledge of the person can be examined. The
person who passes this stage will be send to the last stage of the interview where the
attribute and person attitude toward the work can be judged.
Selection and offer employment: The person who has the potential and has cleared all
the test are than selected to work for the firm, in this they also tell about company policy
and benefits along with what is required of the person. Purple mail is in dire need to hire
good employees who can help in enhancing the performance of the firm .

necessary of the firm to make sure that no type of discrimination on the basis of sex, age, race
etc. are done (Katzenbach and Smith, 2015). The selection process should be fair, at the time of
Job posting it also needs to make sure that it doesn't give preference to any single race, religion
or origin etc.,
Equity act stated that the firm should provide each candidate with equal chance and the
whole process should be fair. The firm should not be bias to any particular person or race
through the whole process such as at the time of interview and selection.
At the time of offering the firm should make sure that its following the minimum wages

As an HR manager the whole process was done under my direction. First of all I created
a team that can help me carry out my role in efficient manner and delegate the work among them
so that whole process can be completed on the time. I was responsible to gather the information
about the need of company, such as number of people that are need to hire, position which
require urgent need to be fulfilled other than this I was also involved in the section process such

in short listing the candidate who passes the minimum criteria.
Assessment centre: The written test to measure the capability of the candidate are also prepared
by me, I try to make sure that no type of favouritism and biasses are involved and whole process
is done by fair mean.
Final interview: In this stage I as a HR manger take part in the interview in order to gauge the
attribute of the candidates. I also negotiate with employees regarding the salary so that the gap
between applicant's expectation and the offer made by company can be lessened.

A competent leader make the whole process much easier. With the guidance and
direction of the firm was able to hire potential employees that can contribute in the success of the
firm. As a manger I hand-picked all the application so that only best candidate can move
forward. I try to make sure that right candidate get selected for the right place. In order to make
sure that applicant's have good impression of the company and they select the Purple company
as their choice of the firm, I try to create a good impression of the firm. I myself decide the pay
and benefits of the employees on the basis of their position and qualification, while decided the
pay and benefits I also keep the financial condition of the firm into consideration. I make sure
that the candidate we are hiring are affordable to company and do not lead to more financial
crisis.
2.1 Skills and attributes needed for leadership
A leader is someone who have great skill so that he can lead people with him and make
them follow him wilfully. A leader must have qualities like confidence, determination,
positivity, passion commitment etc., that can help him in carrying out its work in efficient
manner. A leader require to be confident so that he can represent both the company and
employee (Nanjundeswaraswamy and Swamy, 2014). Along with this its also necessary of the
leader to have creative and innovative ideas so that he can come up with the best plan that can
help him in completing a project. In order to make subordinate respect the leader and follow its
command, a leader should have skills like cooperative, supportive, dependable etc. but along
with this he should also have skills like assertive, persuasive and social skill so that he can make
worker work according to him. Lack of leadership is one of the reason behind the crumbling
situation of the Purple mail company (Boon and Biron, 2016). The firm require a good manger

Reward system: Reward system mostly included financial benefits that are provided by the firm
