The HRM is the important department part of any organisation. The effective planning
and development of the people in organisation are handled by the HR department. The
organisation chose for highlighting the functions and importance of HR department is Netflix.
Netflix is one of the largest American OTT company (Almajali and Tarhini, 2016). The company
is headquartered in US and is one of the leading top player in this industry. The people are the
main part of any organisation's success. The importance of human resource planning with
approaches to recruitment and selection have been focused.

The Human resource can be defined as the workforce of any organisation. The effective
planning, acquiring, retaining and developing of employees is referred to the human resource
management. The activities related to the effective management of human resource is of strategic
importance to any organisation to gain competitive advantage. The purpose of the HRM to
Netflix are as follows:
Alignment of organisation goals and human resource : The HR department is vested to
understand the people of organisation and aligning their objectives with that of the organisation.
Providing Job satisfaction : The employees should feel motivated and satisfied with the
environment of organisation and with the role and responsibilities so assigned (Yaser and Safie,

from basic pay. The compensation package should be designed in a way that it increases the

internal sources include the employee referrals, transfers, promotions, contacting the former or

campus hiring, employee exchange, job fairs and consultancies. The commonly used approaches
by Netflix are referrals, transfers and promotions etc.
