Introduction
Nursing is a disciple that is rich in vales and is combined with technical and knowledge skills
that are founded on a specific human interest. Over the years, the nursing practice has gone
through a radical change in public interest perspective to narrow the focus on each individual.
The nursing professionals have to follow different trends by setting in search of convenience,
professional development, waiving professional values, society to give their best in their job
roles. Today, more than ever there are conflicts seen between the professional, personal and
social values of nursing practice. In light of this study, in this assignment, we are going to
measure the professional values, personal values, self-care and professional development of the
nurses to perfect their best professional practice.
Assessment Event 1: Personal values
In a nursing profession it is essential to have critical assessment in the personal beliefs and
character and person value to give optimum care to the patients. Being a registered nurse I
required having my own personal value and competence to rise within mu practice that could
further be possessed to help my patients out with the bet centered care1.
According to my personal professional experience in nursing practice, I would like to reflect
back a case where I worked in Nigeria as a professional nurse, a 16 year old girl l work up in the
hospital. She asked me throughout the way if I could help her in any sort of way for her problem.

Assessment Event 1: Personal values

inform about it2.
In reflecting back in this situation, I prompted this question to myself on how would he be
feeling on her situation? As my professional nursing practice it allowed me to assess her
thoughts and emotions as well as feeling on how she might be feeling at first place. Through very
simple actions of her voice and her flat behavior I could know that she was really frightened.
Another reflected thought which came in my mind was being a nurse, how I could make the
young girl feel good on this situation? For this, I made her calm in certainly to make her feel best
and to calm her down by telling her about the procedure that will make her good in no time. The
situation leaded a positive impact on my professional nursing practice as there are times where
we could lead a positive change by making our patients positive to recover better in their
problem3.
