It also includes a search for online resources, citing two websites that provide CPD information. The second project assesses current nursing skills, identifies areas for improvement, and sets SMART goals, alongside strategies for achieving these goals, like attending workshops and CPD programs. INTRODUCTION
Continuing professional development is crucial for all individuals as it a way that lead to
many opportunities to grow and prosper more effectively and also lead to better personal and
professional development (Mollica & Hyman, 2016). The current assignment includes a
description about CPD opportunities along with evaluation of current skills and setting goals. At
last a professional development plan is also included in this assignment.
Project one
Summary of three (3) CPD opportunities
The current assignment is based on continuing professional development for a nursing
career that would lead to a range of professional development opportunities in their field. The
three main CPD opportunities currently prevailing in nursing career are discussed below:
 Learning actions to treat a patient of low back pain that would help in diagnosing low
back pain through targeted history and physical examination. The main target audience
for this learning or CPD plan are the middle age individuals which are above the age of
40 and are suffering from serve back pain due to their long sitting hours of work or any
other reason (Ignatavicius & Chung, 2016).
 The other CPD opportunity prevailing in nursing areas is associated with real time
perception monitoring (SafeScript) that provides a training to prescribers and pharmacist
on the use of Safescript system. It basically targets those patients who are taking high risk
medicines on a regular basis thus, aim at motivating them and showing them the risk of
taking these medicines to take better care of their health. This would also refresh the
knowledge of nurses on alternative options for managing chronic pain, anxiety and
insomnia, including non-pharmacological approaches and other lower risk
pharmacological treatments thus facilitates better growth opportunity for them.
 Further learning techniques for safety through reporting at the time of emergency are also
a suitable CPD opportunity for nursing career that enables a nurse to report adverse
events to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to ensure patient safety and
address other issues. This target those patient and individuals who are situated at remote
places and require urgent medical treatment and care to get aid and better health.

Project Two
Evaluation of skill and SMART goals
My current skills as a nurse includes effective time management, critical thinking, teamw9rk
and effective communication thus, I have sufficient sift skills but I required to improve my
professional and hard skills that includes better medical leaning thus, the smart objectives set by
me are as follows:
 To get better knowledge about treatment and diagnosis of a patient of low back pain
within 6 months to enhance my nursing ability.
 To develop effective learning techniques for safety through reporting in coming 8 months
that is necessary to handle an emergency situation and it would also improve my
communication and time management skills through making me able to handle and report
safety of patient at appropriate time and in effective manner.
The strategies that are prepared by me for attaining theses goals includes participating in
some effective workshops, professional networks, seminars along with attaining CPD
programmes to develop and have better growth opportunity. The estimated time required to
attain these skills and learning is around 6-8 months of effective learning but to get expertise and

betterment in these skills a total of 12 months can be required. The use of various human
resources in form of instructor and physical resources like online classes and other learning
modes would also be made by me to accomplish and achieve my targets.

It can be concluded from above assignment that CPD is a crucial part for every individuals

evaluation of current skills along with setting desired gaols are also necessary to have better
professional and personal development. At last, it can be concluded that professional
development plan is made to have continuous development and betterment in skills and
knowledge.
