Reflection Essay: 3D Printing for Sustainability and Team Dynamics

Reflection
Together with my group members I made a presentation about the ways in which 3d printing
focusing on sustainability and environment. My team examined various sources and methods
for the module through which relevant information can be assembled. My part in the
presentation was related to the use of 3d printing which is growing day by day that influence
suitability. While collecting the information related to 3-D printing, I determined that there are
various significances of this production method for example it helps in minimizing costly raw
material waste, it also assists in avoiding over production and dead stock. It was also identified
during the research that 3-D printing two common materials for printing on plastic parts which
are acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and polylactic acid (PLA). I researched data and
information as much as I can & complete my part of the presentation successfully. Each and
every group member played an imperative role in the making the presentation. We faced some
issues while making our presentation such as one member was not attending the meetings we
were conducting. But with our effective team work and corporation we managed to bring her on
the presentation day.
Another member was also not available on the day of presentation, we decided and
recommended him to send a video of his part in the presentation so that we can present his part
which was also a great sign of team work in our group. The best thing we all did was distribution
of the work properly, all were allotted some part or work to do. It helped us to perform in depth
research and completing the presentation in time. In the end of the presentation I understood
that communication is very important along with organizing the work. In next module or
presentation, I will ensure that our group perform tasks in much organized way by prioritizing the
activities. I will also try to motivate each and every member to attend the group meetings by
personally interacting with them. This presentation helped me to develop my skills related to
research, I used primary as well as secondary research methods to gather information
related to 3-D printing, it will be useful for me in future research projects. I developed by skills of
working in a team understanding cultures and behavior of people from different countries. It is
very beneficial for my future career is I work in a multinational company. Furthermore, I also
improved my skills related to giving presentation that will assist me in future projects.
