1REFECTION REPORT
The research study and the report have been a very fulfilling experience for me. It has
helped me in various ways to develop different aspects and personality. The structure of the
research paper has been followed from Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill (2015), and while
following this structure to conduct the study and present the findings, I learned multiple things,
which not only helped to increase my knowledge on the subject but also encouraged me to
develop quite a few aspects of my personality.
The study starts with selecting a topic. After much discussion with my tutor, I could
finally narrow down the research topic from the vast subject. I learnt that it is highly important to
narrow down the research topic, as the research subject, that is, different types of businesses and
their scopes in the automobile industry of Saudi Arabia is vast and overwhelming and it is not
possible to explore all the aspects. Hence, for a concise research, a focused approach is needed
(Wang and Park 2015). After the topic selection, my tutor guided me through the literature
review. This section is very important to increase the knowledge on the related subject. By
exploring numerous literatures by other scholars, I was not only able to expand my knowledge,
but various angles to the subject had also opened up, which I would have overlooked otherwise.
This also helped me to present the context of my study in a comprehensive manner (Hart 2018).
I faced a tough challenge in selecting an appropriate research methodology. Prior to this
study, I did not have any idea on the methods to be followed in a research. In this step, I got very
valuable guidance from my tutor, who taught me different parts of research methods, such as,
research philosophies, research approach, design, strategy, and different types of data collection
and analysis procedures. After studying these in an extensive manner and understanding the
underlying logic, I was able to select the appropriate research methodology for the study on the
feasibility of self-service car wash business in Saudi Arabia. I also learnt that choosing an

inappropriate methodology can generate wrong outcome of the research (Kumar 2019). Thus, I
chose secondary research methods for the study. With the help of my tutor, friends, and
university librarians, I was able to gather information on the growth of the automobile industry
of Saudi Arabia and its impact on other supporting businesses. I was also able to understand the
market trends and their impact on the self-service car wash business in Saudi Arabia and based
on that, I could also present feasible recommendations for this new business.
In the process of conducting the research, I realized that my knowledge on the subject
and also on different parts and methods of research improved significantly. At the same time, my
communication and writing skills, data searching ability, understanding of literature, and
interpretation skills have improved. My patience level has also enhanced, which will help me in
my lifetime and in all my future endeavors. Thus, while carrying out the research study, not only
my knowledge increased, but it also helped in my personality development, which is a lifelong
asset for me.
