Communication Skills Reflection: Course Learning and Development

Reflection
With the help of the course of communication for academic and professional context I
learnt the following skills and knowledge which was very helpful in further life. These skills are
as follows-
Writing and presentation skills- this is very important skill because in this highly
competitive world the competition is very high (Sánchez-Moral, Bontje and Musterd, 2018).
Thus, knowledge of this writing and presentation skill will help in making good presentation in
the whole course and this will give me a competitive advantage over other students.
Reading skill- this is also an important skill which is being learnt during the course of
communication. This is important as without reading no knowledge and skill can be attained.
Hence, for this it is very essential that I possess good reading skills. Also, these reading skills
will help me to gather knowledge other than the course content. This is basically necessary
because of the reason that also other things going in the world is very necessary and this can be
gained with help of reading skills only.
Reflection- this is another major important skill which I learnt from this course.
Reflection is referred to as the art of writing the personal learning in their own language. Thus,
this skill helps the person to know that how much they have learnt from their working. Hence,
this skill help the person to self assess them that how much learning and information they have
gathered from their course.
Learning style and multiple intelligence- this is another skill which includes having
knowledge of different styles through which a person can learn different skills. Also, it is very
necessary for me to gather knowledge of different styles of learning and I also learnt that
multitasking is also necessary. This is important because the competition is high and to face it, it
is necessary for me to handle different task at a single time only.
Research skill- this is the most important skill for success in the course of
communication. This is majorly because of the reason that for studying there is requirement of
searching many different things. Also, for this there are many different websites and they had to
be researched for better result (Del Monte and Pennacchio, 2019). Hence, with this course i
learnt that the researching skills need to be very effective and good.

Evaluating sources- this is another major skill which i learnt during the course of
communication. This is skills which will help me in evaluating the different sources from which
the information can be gathered. This is majorly used there are many different sources and
websites which provide same or relevant data and information. Hence, there is more need to
evaluate the sources which are more relevant with the study of the course.
Citing source- this is referred to as the citing the source from which the data has been
taken and this is very important skill to be learnt in effective manner (Guan, Xie and Huan,
2018). This is majorly because of the reason that if the data is taken form any website then it is
necessary to give credit to that source. Hence, with this course i learnt the citing the correct
source at correct place it is very important. This is a very good skill as this helps the writer in
giving credit to the person who has written the article or journal from which the data has been
used.
Applying knowledge and transferring skill- this is also important because if i gain
knowledge of several aspect and i don’t know where to apply it. Then the knowledge taken is
useless. Hence, the most important thing is to build the ability which will help me in applying all
the knowledge and skill learnt to the practical working. Hence, this course over communication it
was very helpful for me to learn the ability to apply knowledge and transfer to others.
Lifelong learning- this is also an important skill which i learnt during the course of
communication for academic and professional context. This is very necessary because if once the
knowledge is taken and then it is forgotten then it is of no use. Hence, with this course I learnt
the lifelong learning is very necessary.
Digital literacy and technology skill- in this highly modern and technologically advance
era, it is very important for me to gain all the knowledge and skill required to manage the
technological advancement. This is basically important because of the fact that if these digital
skills will not be inherited in me then i will not have competitive advantage over other students.
Knowledge and understanding of work in 2018 and beyond it- this is also very
important and crucial learning from the course of communication. This is majorly because of the
reason that if i had no knowledge of current market working then i will not be competitive in
high competition. Hence, it is very important to have proper market knowledge and current
knowledge not the outdated knowledge for effective working (Chua and Ng, 2017).

Creative thinking and problem solving- this is yet another skill which i got knowledge
during the course of communication for academic and professional context. In this competitive
and ever changing world there are many different problems which are being encountered by the
person. Hence, it is very important to have ability to think creatively so that the problems can be
solved in effective and efficient manner. In this frequent changing and dynamic environment
there are many changes taking place and these need to be adapted by the person. Hence, for this
creative thinking is required as which change need to adapt and which not.
Numeracy skill- this is another major important skill which is necessarily to be inherited
in the student. This is basically pertaining to the fact that in doing research and related activities
it is necessary to deal with data and facts and figures and then to interpret them (Kim and Choi,
2019). Hence, this interpretation can be made in good manner only when i have proper numeracy
and data skill. Thus, with help of this course i learnt the fact that managing and interpreting data
in effective manner is very important.
