INTRODUCTION
Reflection on the group work is necessary step in order to improve own personality and
professionalism of any stage of life. This report is fully based on the reflection on group work, in
which reflective theory such as Kolb’s learning cycle also has been used here to systematically
reflect on the precious group work. Difference between team wok and groupwork also has been
covered in reflective report.
MAIN BODY
Reflection
Reflection is too important procedure to a person who wants to learn from its precious
activities, operations and experiences. We always conduct such practices in our daily lives, in
which these practices are enough to us for learning in the future (Williamson, 2020). Currently
people use various innovative models of reflection, like; Kolb’s learning cycle, Gibb’s reflective
model etc. However, Kolb’s model or theory of reflection is one of the best models, so this
model has been used below for properly reflecting on my recent group work.
KOLB’S LEARNING CYCLE
Currently Kolb’s model is one of the best learning and reflective models in across the
world. In this dynamic and modern world, personal and professional development is very
necessary task to a person, in which when anyone reflect on its past activities by using Kolb’s
mode, then it can simply enable to learn from its experiences. Many people consider this model
as theoretical experimental learning model. According to Kolb’s model, I have to follow cycle
stages, like; Concrete experience, Reflective observation, Abstract conceptualisation, Active
experimentation. In this situation, after considering these all stage of learning cycle, I can
effectively reflect on my last group work.
Concrete experience
Recently I have participated in the group work, and this groupwork was added great
value in personal life, because I have learnt many new things with the support of this group

work. Day to day competition in market place increasing, so currently only those people are
gaining huge success in market place who has enough well-developed skills and abilities. In this
situation, recent group work was enabled me for improving own skills, abilities and working
capabilities. By participating in the last group work, I have realised one thing that there is a
group work is completely different from a team work. The main reason behind this statement is
that, a group always formulates by people, when they come together for achieving same target
and objectives (Smith, 2019). Members in a group work always has equal power to take any
decision, because this group in created by people on their own choice. According to my
knowledge, teamwork term is mainly used within businesses, companies and organisation, where
top-level management of an organisation divides their all employees into small team for
achieving all decided objectives and goals on time. I understood that, people or members of a
teamwork not has equal power, because a team always leads by a team leader, and that leader has
the highest power in the team work. I have experienced that; these all are major differences
between a team work and a group work. However, we all members has effectively worked in the
last group work by properly coordinating with each other.
Reflective observation
By participating in the last group work, I have observed that, there are proper and well-
developed skills of communication plays great role in overall success of a groupwork. Basically,
no group work or team work can achieve its objectives and goals on time without having proper
skills of communication, because these skills and abilities has helped too all members for
systematically interacting with each other. In this situation, when me and colleagues proper
interacted with each other, then we have enabled to solve different errors and problems in the
workplace. While formulating the group work, me and colleagues has taken roles according to
own capabilities and skills, but this thing not happens in the team work, because I have
experienced that, when we work in a team work, then the existing leader of team gives us a
specific role to play in the teamwork (Burke and Fitch, 2020). On the other side, while working
in the groupwork, me and colleagues has putted our huge efforts for maintaining balance
between all member, but in a teamwork, the team leaders has responsible to maintain an effective
balance in team roles.

In the recent group work, I have learned that formulating a groupwork is not an easy task
to a person, because everyone has required to follow some specific stages of group formation.
Basically, these stages aware different group member about how to put their efforts in workplace
to formulate an effective group. (Calkins and Harris, 2017) For example; we have followed four
key stages of group formation given by Bruce Tuckman, called; forming, storming, norming and
performing. These all stages we have followed, and these has given us a specific path to make
our group work very effective, and the end we have enabled to formulate an effective group
work after following these stages.
Active experimentation
Me and other group members was enabled to develop our many skills, abilities and areas
of knowledge after participating in the last group work. For example; currently I have an
effective personality and professionalism with skills of problem-solving, communication,
conflict management etc. just because of last groupwork. In have experienced that proper use of
Asch effect and groupthink is very necessary to achieve final objective. We have required to
some productive strategies for maintaining dynamics of group effectively. I have experienced
that, pseudo team, potential team, real team, high performance team are completely different
from each other but their attributes are favourable to achieve final goals on time (Long, 2019). In
a team work, a leader has right to take final decision, but while working in the recent group, we
all members has right to discuss together for taking any final decision. However, this recent
group work has enabled to about how to effectively work with people.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded that reflection on past activities is generally considered for the
personal and professional development by people in market, because when any person reflects on
its past activities, then it will be able to know those which can affects its life in both manners,
positively and negatively. Reflection is the best way to avoid mistakes in the future which we
have conducted before.
