video using the marking rubric as your guide.
From class videos 1, I have developed my understanding of the fundamentals of the resort and
hotel industry. In such a way, I have learned that the development of diverse strategies related to

emerging and traditional way. This video did not provide more depth understanding regarding
fundamental of resort and hospitality (Baum, et. al., 2016).
Throughout the class video 2, I have enhanced my learning related to the historical context of
hospitality. In this way, I have learned that there are three theoretical concepts in the context of
hospitality such as private, social and commercial. I have also observed that service provision
focusing on professionalism as well as, high standard as the main emphasis on the performance
of employees. This may foster the predictability in products and services as well as, developing
the destructive trend in the context of the hospitality industry towards its homogenization. This
video did not discuss more historical perspective about hospitality (Frent, 2016).
During the class video 3, I have developed my knowledge about the hospitality as a performance.
In this video, I have observed that values, as well as practices of hospitality everywhere, develop

termism, misperception, and widespread employment as well as, wide-term perception of
workforces. This video did not demonstrate a large number of sustainability practices of
hospitality (Cash, 2013).
Reflect on videos and own research
From own research, I have developed my own understanding regarding power and gender in
hospitality. As well as, I have created my knowledge about the hedonic and non-hedonic
hospitality. Along with this, from videos, I have learned the same aspects. However, there was a
difference between my own research and videos. For example, the video clearly presents the
French and Raven’s five forms of power but, in my own research, I did not read about this model
(Korstanje, 2015). By the content of the subject, I have changed my own ideas regarding
authenticity and appropriation in hospitality. Before the research, and watching the video, I was
no understanding related to authenticity and appropriation in hospitality but, my own research
and video help me to understand this perspective. I would apply my learning in the hospitality
industry in terms of performing in this sector as a manager (Katan, 2012).

After videos presented by my classmates and weekly reflection, I have developed my knowledge
regarding hospitality management. These weeks have improved my knowledge about the
multidisciplinary nature in the sector of hospitality studies as well as, motivate me to consider
the hospitality aspect ahead of the commercial domain. There are different factors that could be
considered by me while performing within the hotel such as cultural, political as well as,
historical aspects. These weeks were beneficial for me to make my career in hospitality sectors. I
have also created my understanding regarding the dimension of hospitality such as ghos-ti,
strangers, and ancient Greeks. This dimension would be applied by me in the hospitality sector to
effectively deal with the issues. I have also enhanced my learning that there are different barriers
faced by women in the hospitality industry such as cultural traditions, Education systems, Role
stereotyping, Workplace role models, and Workplace cultures and expectations. This learning
would be applied by me to overcome these kinds of issues in the future in the hospitality sector
(Yates, & Leggett, 2016).
Throughout the week, I have also gained my experience regarding the tourist gaze. In this way, I
have learned that expectations are developed by media and story such as movies, postcards, and
pictures. This learning would be applied by me to act as per the expectation of tourists.
Throughout own research, I have generated my knowledge that socio-cultural impact on the
tourism. From videos, I have learned that there are several socio-cultural factors that have
impacts on tourism such as a number of people in public places, the availability of public spaces,
traffic congestion, poor behavior associated to alcohol and drug consumption, and crime. When I
was working in Hotel, I faced some issues such as poor working cultural, restricted engagement
with diversity concerns, human rights abuses as well as, the dominance of small businesses.

These learning would be focused by me in the future to become a good hotel manager (Lynch,
2011).
I have also enhanced my learning that some environmental factors have an impact on tourism.
These factors are increased disposal and waste production, pollution of water courses and
beaches, and disturbance of wildlife and local vegetation. I have also improved my knowledge
about the Kolb’s learning cycle. In this way, I have developed my knowledge that there is four
processes of Kolb's learning cycle such as concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract
conceptualization, and active experimentation. I would apply this knowledge into the future to
write a reflection in an effective manner (Katan, 2012).
Throughout the course, I have developed my understanding regarding hospitality by the case
study of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. I have learned that this is a place in which, the highest mission
of this hotel is genuine care as well as, offering the comfort to the guest. I have also observed
that the hotel provides warm, relaxed as well as, refined ambiance to pull the attention of
customers (Cash, 2013).
I have improved my knowledge that codes of hospitality informed as well as, inspired both
theoretical and folk model of association within as well as, between nation-states. I have also
enhanced my learning that the practices and values of hospitality everywhere construct the terms
for maintaining good relations between strangers. I have also enhanced my knowledge that there
are different causes of travel such as authentic experience, cultural explorer, No-hassle traveler,
and Free spirit. Another cause of travailing that I learned is Rejuvenator, Personal history
explorer, and Virtual traveler. This learning would be applied by me in the future to effectively
work in the hospitality sector (Frent, 2016).

I have also increased my knowledge that there are different research paradigms such as
quantitative and qualitative research. I have also learned that there are two sources of data
collection such as primary and secondary data collection. In this way, I have learned that
primary data is kind of sources that originated through places as well as, time of events being
researched. Along with this, I have observed that primary sources of data collections are survey
questionnaire and observation. I have also identified that secondary data is gathered through the
magazines, newspaper articles, and interview data. I would apply this knowledge to gather the
information about the customer towards the hotel (Cash, 2013).
