1MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES
When it comes to choosing the situation in life where I had showcased my talent using
the four management principles of planning, organising, leadership, control, I could recall the
blood donation camp in my college days. This specific camp was organised when I was chosen
the team head of the social service department. I was given the responsibility to arrange one
blood donation camp where I gathered information about the interested candidates in my class. I
provided them guidance about the monetary sponsorships, hospital and blood banks to be
contacted and the pamphlets to be distributed for spreading the message in the other departments
of the college. However, the problem was with my controlling ability. What I lacked in my
understanding is that staying accountable to the people with responsibility is the key to effective
management. There was leniency in my part which left to lack of accountability and
responsibility on my friend’s part.
Planning is the process of chalking out the blueprint of the proposed task. This is the
primary task for conducting any task (Wachs 2017). During the planning of the blood donation
camp, I figured out about the multiple layers planning and the importance of following a step by
step method to complete it without the much hustle. Organising comes after the process of
planning. This is the practical part of the task. While organizing, what was the absolute
requirement was that the intermediaries whom I had to convey the message within the given
time. An organization requires the skill which an internal and external process (Issel 2017). This
included communication to the parties inside and outside.Next important issue in any
management of events is the issue of leadership. Successful completion and delivery would
depend ultimately upon the effective leader (Northouse 2018). He or she will create motivation
among the people around them. Lastly, control which is the principle of managing the ensure
event in the most tactful manner.

However, according to my analysis, the situation could have been different if I would
have taken a different set of actions. There would not have been miscommunication and
improper deliverance of the issue if I would have conveyed the positive message to the higher
authority. However, the situation was different, and I wish I could have taken alternative steps to
ensure a better outcome. While thinking of the alternative methods, I realised that there was a
need to develop a connectivity platform where everybody could convey their concern and
whether they have been able to fulfil their respective duties. It would have also provided a
common ground and a platform for voicing the challenges faced by the students during the
process. There was the need a delegation of few responsibilities than shouldering them alone.
This would have created a positive mindset among the people for finishing the teas within then
given time in the most positive manner. However, these experiences were required to serve as a
lesson for future endeavours as such mistakes will not be repeated. While the earlier method
failed to reap positive outcomes, these new measures are expected to provide better results in
future situations.
