1EVALUATION AND REFLECTION
Entry 1a
The best way assess the capacities and capabilities of a person are to apply the self-
assessment tools. The self-assessment or self-reflection always brings out the best and worst
aspects of the human beings in their lives. All the human beings go through several phases in
their lives. Sometimes these phases are good and sometimes they are bad. This is why the human
beings are needed to assess what is good for them and what is not. There are some aspects in our
characters that can be seen in difficult situations and we have to find the way out from those
situations. Actually some people are very tough in their characters unless they face those
situations they are not aware of their hidden talents as well. We always face many challenges in
our lives and the situation turns out that we have to mitigate those problems by our own. I have
been able to know about these aspects of my life by facing the similar experiences indeed. I want
to take the proper measures to identify those challenges and mitigate the problems by applying
the strategies properly.
In the future times, I will try to be cautious about the mitigating ways of those problems.
The aspect that I have learnt the positive and negative aspects of my life will help me to be
stronger and tackle all the challenges indeed. I have also assessed that I possessed some views
about myself which are not that much effective anymore. I want to focus on my negative things
in my life and eradicate them to feel motivated and achieve new heights of success indeed. I have
found out some errors in my character that I would like to improve on.
If I am able to get a proper idea about the strengths and weaknesses about my personality
it would be very effective indeed to develop on my weaknesses and utilizing the strengths for the
betterment of my own future. I do not want my seniors or my colleagues to have any negative

personality.
In this section I would like to take into account one important aspect that I went through
in my current work organization that helped me to find out the strengths and weaknesses about
my own personality. I want to use the reflective model of Boud to go through this incident.

The experience was that I was assigned with a group assignment in my work organization
along with seven of my colleagues. All of us were going through a huge mental stress as this was
a huge opportunity bestowed upon all of us. The situation was indeed very challenging for us. On
the positive side I could say that it was really very important for us to show our ability to impress
our seniors through successfully complete that project or assignment. We all were very much
tensed as we did not have much time with us. I noticed that despite working very hard, one of

perform as he was expected to. I had previously noticed that he was very much unmindful when
he was working. This might be due to the immense tension the project had caused. However, we
had to complete that group assignment well before the time. I approached him and wanted him to
share his problems with me. At the beginning he was not sure about sharing his problems with
me.
However, this reluctance of his was no more when I approached him with the utmost
care. He opened up to me his communication skills in English were not so good because he was
not a perfect English speaker indeed. He was very ashamed of the fact that he could not English
words very fluently and speak in English with other people. Then I talked to him with much
tenderness and shared my own experiences with him. I told him that my family had shifted to
one of the high profile areas of USA and I was admitted to a very high profile school in that
country. It was indeed really very difficult for me to get accustomed to the ways of that school. I
was often bullied and I got frustrated many times. I could not speak English like them nor did I
know the manners like him as well. So, this was one of my drawbacks that I wanted to reflect
upon. Suddenly, I wanted to give up a drop out from that school indeed. Then I thought it was
not for me to give up in those difficult situations. I knew that I would have to secure my place
amidst those difficulties. Later during that period I wanted to learn new skills in English that
could enhance of capabilities in communicating in English. As I said these things to him he was

I undertake. In the later period I had gone through another incidence when I was appointed as the
leader of a team to overcome a tough project. It was my responsibility to make the team work
together with utmost trust and accountability. However, I came to know that one of my
colleagues had lagged behind in his works badly. He committed this fact and was terribly afraid.
It is because if the management found him guilty they would definitely suspend him for his
delay. This had impacted on the project on a negative note. I am a man of my words and I rely on
my accountability. This is why I asked him to go to the managers and accept that his actions had
delayed the project from being completed. This is where he needed encouragement. I provided
him with the needed encouragement indeed. Then he went to the senior management and
accepted his guilt. The management was very happy with the accountability and honesty of the
person. This is why they gave him the second chance to fulfill his work. This was the second
deed that happened to me in my managerial career.
I believe I will take up some actions in the coming days in a way that I can be held
accountable for my deeds. So, from these incidents I learned from the PPDI that biggest strength
is my never give up mentality and my creativity. I also showed my talent in my workplace to
arrange some events in some unique ways. This had captured the minds of the audience in the
best ways. I provided my team mates with innovative ideas that had been very important to
proceed with the work. I arranged the events and led my team with most innovative things that
got us the first prize. I never used very precious things. I used some common daily life things and
completed the work very smoothly. This shows that I am very much creative and innovative in

well. This creative and innovative mindset of mine has also motivated me to prosper in my
professional field as well.
After narrating these incidents, I have come to the conclusion that I am really
going through some good patch regarding creativity. If I am accountable all the time for all my
actions all the time, this would really be a very important aspect for us as well. I will try to these
creative aspects of mine better so that would be better for me in the longer term indeed. I will
teach my juniors to be accountable for all the actions. I think the good aspects that I have got
from this PPDI will surely be helpful for me in my upcoming time,. I expect that because of my
accountability on myself and my creative aspects, my juniors will look upon me as their leader.
This will also enhance my capabilities and this will develop my chances of progressing further.
My inspiration will also lead them to achieve the new heights of success. My communication

7EVALUATION AND REFLECTION
Entry 1b
Self-reflection has been considered as the way of finding the best and worst aspects of a
human being. A human being has both good and bad sides. Both his strengths and weaknesses
have to be considered to evaluate him properly. Every human being passes through good and bad
incidents through their lives. The experiences we gather in our lives can act as our teachers for
the future steps we take in our lives. We can learn the best teachings from the best experiences
that we go through in our lives. Self-reflection is also the process by which the human beings can
also evaluate themselves. We can effectively find out the faults in us as well as the strengths.
This helps us to conclude how we can achieve our objectives in our lives. It is important to find
out the flaws to understand the things we lack and how we can improve on those points. The
strengths are also very important to realize since we have to build our empire of success on those
strengths. I want to use my strengths and improve on my weaknesses so I can achieve my dreams
of becoming a successful leader and manager in my workplace. I have also been trying to find
out the faults that have been in my personality. Thus I can be able to find out the faults of my
colleagues as well that would help me to identify the challenges that I would have to make. If I
have a proper and clear idea about the strengths and weaknesses of mine, I would surely be able
to improve my performance as the manager. I would also be able to find out the ways by which I
could be successful. This will impact on a positive manner on both my personal and professional
lives. I will have to improve on my faults so I can cover those areas of my flaws.
The first thing I would narrate in this context is the incident that I had faced in my
workplace. I would brief this incident by using the Boud’s reflective model (Gould and Taylor
2017). I was put in charge of the customer handling team in my organization. I had to control my
team and deal with the customers. Previously I had the idea that I was completely a calm person

and I could deal with all the complexities with a cool mind. This is why I thought I could deal
with this situation very well. I found that I had to manage the situation of handling with the
customers properly. I expected that I could deal with all the situations with a calm mind. This
would be very helpful for them indeed. However, things did not go in that way. I had been trying
with my best efforts that could be helpful for the entire team to perform well. The pressure was
mounting on us and we had to work very hard indeed. I had to take the responsibility of
accumulating all the team members and work efficiently. This did not go down well for long
since I had been very much upset about the sales performance of my team. I was preparing to
make my team members understand the relevance of this marketing campaign. Suddenly I
noticed that some of them were not concentration on their work and they did not even pay the
full attention in their works. They were even late as well. I got furious as I had to look after the
entire process and attend the phone call of the customers as well. The situation was going out of
hand since there was no other person to take the calls. I opened myself up and protested against
them indeed. I had rebuked my team members as I was very angry on them. Later my seniors sat
with me and told me that I should not have been so much furious since I was in charge of the
customer handling team. I behaved badly with the customers as well. This is when I realized that
my anger took the better of me. The seniors advised me that I should not take that kind of
approach in the future times since it is very bad.
I think I should have been really patient about all the things and issues. I should be more
patient when dealing with the customers. In this section I would be describing about my next

business operations. I had this thing in mind that I had to go to the employees to seek the
necessary information. This is why this was very huge task in front of me. I did my best to
overcome all the odds so that I had to work very hard in this manner. The survey I had gone
through was in-depth indeed. This is why I had to approach all the employees from the
respective departments. This had been very instrumental for the positive outcome of the survey. I
had asked all the employees about the tentative changes they want to be implemented. They want
some important changes and I noted down all the things to be presented before my seniors. The
data I had collected was very important for the senior managers and they appreciated my efforts
very much. The changes that I suggested to be brought in were very relevant as well. I suggested
a proper business model that my organization could follow in the future. My senior managers
were very happy that I came up with such an advanced and innovative business plan. They
wanted me to make a presentation of this business plan on the foundation day of the organization
before some eminent guests. I believed this could do a big favor for me in case of professional
progress. Initially I had the confidence that I could make the presentation very efficiently.
The date of the final presentation for my business plan was approaching indeed. I had
realized that I had been occupied with the feelings of immense fear. I suddenly began to feel that
I could not deliver the presentation properly. I was thinking about so many people who would be
present there and it would be a mishap for me to fail in my task of presenting my business plan. I
wanted to flee away from this situation since I was almost collapsing in fear. I felt that I had
made a very good position for myself in front of all my seniors. That position would go ruined if
I escaped from this situation. Besides that my followers respected me very much and they
depended on me. I thought if I escape this would leave a very bad impression on me. On thinking

After all these incidents, I had come up with the conclusion that I have to regain my
