Reflection on Research and Skill Development in Business Leadership

Reflection

REFLECTION
While going through research about a successful business leader I analysed several thing
that helped me a lot to increase my knowledge and skills. In above task that was related to a get
information about a business leader as its background, career, skills and role in their business I
conduced a deep research and gather many information. This research model help me to improve
my employability and study skills which will help me future to get opportunities and increase the
profitability. While studying I noticed that my communication skills such as verbal and written
has been improved as I get information from people who knows about Dave Lewis that have
shown, I am capable to communicate with anyone easily. My research skills is increases as I
gathered many information from primary and secondary resources that made me understand that
I am enough capable in researching and preparing a PDP plan on that, increased knowledge and
skills.
In research and preparing presentation I have chosen Gibbs Model that is the simple way
of getting reflection and knowing how I collected information and improved own skills. This
model helped me to improve my skills and abilities to complete task and get success. The
description of Gibbs Model covers six stages that are description, feeling thought, evaluation,
analysis, conclusion, and action plan. In description, as I was student and teacher asked me to
know about successful business leader then I had many option or leader who has succeed in their
business life but I choose Dave Lewis as he started his business in earlier and I highly impressed
with this leader. This helped to increased my research skills which can be use to gather
information about any one. Feeling is second step where I increased my communication skills by
sharing with other people about chosen leader. This communication have shown that I am good
in relationship building and attracting someone which is important to work effectively. The third
stage is evaluation that states that I felt absolutely terrified at the time of research because no one
with me to collect information and time of submission was near to me that has created fear to
lose. This has increased team work skills as I made a team by working with some skilled and
knowledgable people who helped me to complete the research and managing all activities. In
this, I shared goals and assigned task between team member by defining roles and
responsibilities that helped me to work efficiently. Analysis is the forth state, that fear really
frightened me because I felt that this research will not be completed. I have no idea what
prompted me to complete research obviously it was confident that I realised in analysation

process. I was doing everything in right way that realised by me and felt that I am reaching near
to success. The fifth stage is conclusion which used by me to bring changes if any problem arose
in research and reach at the ending point. But I realised that no serious problem was faced by me
in task 1 that has increased my ICT skills. ICT is information and communication technology
that is integrated with telecommunication and computer system. In this study, I used information
and communication technology which has improved knowledge and skills. As world is changing
fast, I observed that if people has been changed according to time then it can get success and
become a successful person in their life. I accepted this rule and make the changes in my self as
in past I was not able to use ICT and work in a team but after using Gibbs model I could see
many changes in myself that made me strong and good person in my life. I analysis all stages
and conduct the research properly which helped to complete the research. The sixth stage is
Action which used by me to to complete the research and prepare a good presentation on a
successful business person. I much impressed with Dave Lewis as how this person has faced
problems and address them carefully. This learnt me many thing that never lose hope and should
try always. The Gibbs model helped me to know about my strength and weakness that being
used to improve by observing leader and working smoothly.
In completing the task 1 and module I noticed that my communication skills, problem
solving skills, technical skills, time management skills was very good where I manage task and
each section smoothly and effectively which will help me to give a future opportunity and
increases my employability skills. As I am good in communication and technical skills I can play
a role of manager in any top organisation where I would work with integrity and well organised
way that will help to improve the organisational profitability. I am also good in solving problem
of people that can help me to be a good leader in any organisation and provide me opportunity to
increase performance. Apart from strength I felt that I have some weak point such as I am not
good in mathematical, statical, and data presentation skills that created problem in research. But
my team member and ICT skills helped to resolve all issues. I also got training in such skills in
which I was weak that has create a confident and also helped to complete task 1. Therefore, by
using Gibbs reflective model I analysed by strength and weakness which help to understand how
I improved my skills and knowledge. For managing all activities and performance skills are
important that helps to complete task effectively.
