Understanding Contemporary and Traditional Management: A Reflection

This reflective writing piece explores the author's learning journey through a six-week program focused on contemporary and traditional management approaches. The author highlights the value of attending all classes, seminars, and mentoring sessions to maximize knowledge acquisition. The reflection emphasizes the confidence boost and overall development gained through these sessions, and how the acquired knowledge will contribute to personal and professional growth, particularly in becoming a successful entrepreneur. The author also acknowledges the importance of tailoring strategies and management approaches to specific organizational needs and the business environment, referencing real-world examples and the role of teachers in nurturing student skills.

The information and knowledge provided in all the 6 weeks revolved around
contemporary and traditional approaches to management. For instance, teachers and mentors
engaged in conducting these classes, seminars, and mentoring sessions were officials of this
particular subject. In order to acquire maximum information and knowledge out of these 6
weeks, I attended each and every class, seminar, and mentoring session as knowledge can never
be sufficient.
In the initial phase of providing information and knowledge, teachers guided us about
what all are we going to learn in this whole organised learning sessions and classes. The
succeeding phase came in was introduction to core management as well as significance of
management in personal as well as professional life of an individual. For instance, I was
provided with essential and insightful information regarding factors and aspects that result in
impacting upon management activities and practices in a workplace. Moreover, after the
completion of brief introduction of management to students, teachers considered teaching us
about other elements and components associated with core management.
According to acquired information and knowledge, Traditional approach to management
is determined at accomplishment of determined goals and objectives which are set up by senior
management officials or Board of directors. For instance, these goals are basically aimed and
determined at increasing sales or profitability of respective organisation in carrying out business
operations and activities in an efficient manner. On the other hand, contemporary approach to
management is focused at minimising management or hierarchy level in a workplace in order to
maintain effective coordination and collaboration of employees in workplace. Furthermore, there
are basically four contemporary approaches to management including socio-technical,
quantitative, organisational, and systems approach to management.
Being a management student, all the meaningful knowledge acquired in these sessions
and seminars will facilitate in further growth and development in personal as well as professional
manner. In addition to that, all these sessions and seminars resulted in boosting up my
confidence with access to higher information and knowledge by attending these classes and
seminars oriented upon management. Each and every business organisation designs their
strategies as well as management approaches according to their needs and requirements as well
as existing scenario of business environment. Furthermore, it provided us with insightful
information with context of examples of actual business organisations in market. Teachers

engaged in teaching in these classes and seminars were aimed at overall development of us
students by paying appropriate attention towards major as well as minor skills and abilities of
students.
In order to move further, access to information and knowledge will support me in
succeeding in life in personal as well as professional manner. Moreover, it will contribute
various values in accomplishment of my desired aim of becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Furthermore, I will be able to differentiate between appropriate as well as inappropriate activities
and practices to be taken into consideration in carrying out business operations and activities.
