Introduction
Practice effectively is a chosen domain for this reflection essay
and importance of communication is the topic.
Communication plays a essential role in the working of nurses
who are working in the health and social care sector for
effectively practising their work and task. With proper
communication, nurses can effectively perform their work.
The nurses can gather the required information of patients
easily when the patients has the trust in nurses.

Reflection on Year 1
In year 1, while doing the handover of patients to night staff, I
forgot to take the vitals of a old lady. This mistake happen as
I got involved very much in conversation with her. When the
night staff and lady get to know about this issue, then they all
are very frustrated. I learn from this mistake that a systematic
approach must be used for effectively treating the patients.

Reflection on Year 2
When doing the handover of patients in second year, I faced
similar problem in which a person named Mr Robert was
diagnosed with pancreas cancer. He was lonely and sad, due to
which I want to talk to him for making him feel better. But at
the same time, I also needs to check for her vitals and needs to
take some tests. I was already familiar with such condition and
the mistake I make in such conditions. So I take his tests and
heart rate vitals properly using the systematic nursing process.

Recommendation
Several changes are required in my working style so that the
mistakes can be eliminated in future cases. First thing is
that I need to improve my communication skills. Second
improvement is that I needs to involve less in interesting
conversations. Third thing which needs to be improved is
interpersonal skills. When these skills are improved, then
I can effectively practice my profession of nursing.

Conclusion
It has been concluded from the presentation that my first
year experience was proved very helpful in second year
when the similar issue regarding the patients handover
arise. Through past experience, I was able to tackle the
situation in proper manner. Through the systematic
nursing process and my own approach, I was able to
handover the patients successfully without any errors.
