Research Experience Reflection 2
Prisons might not solely look desirable places for restorative initiatives of justice. They are
places that keep individuals who have been sentenced, typically without having been allowed to
participate in any of the justice processes. The common perception of everyone in the prison is
that they are very dangerous individuals whose victims would not love any given contact.
However, there should be considerable initiatives of restorations that should take place in the
prison, and that it is important for judicial systems to consider a prisoner’s welfare and have a
just society. Thus, the paper reflects on the experience of the research on prisoners and the just
society.
Firstly, I would like to mention that the initial composition of the desired topic of interest has not
been an easy task. It took me a lot of time to think before I chose this specific topic.
Undoubtedly, it is one of the areas of the study that would most of the times intrigue me. I had a
passion to carry out a research on the topic although it never dawned to me clearly that I
specifically wanted until the right time came. The longed time has come.
Secondly, it is important to note that it has been one of the toughest times in academic life. There
is nothing boring, tiring and time consuming like carrying out a research. Although it has proved
to be something difficult, the research itself is worth all those efforts. After all, what I have
acquired is an essential investment. Moghissi, Pei and Liu (2016) argues that having information
is having the gold indirectly, you can change the world by the information you hold. I have
moved from one journal to another trying to look for the relevant information pertaining my
information. It has been an adventurous journey of the mind.
Lastly, it is essential to acknowledge that the whole research experience has changed my life in
considerable number of ways. I would acknowledge that I have gained some of the skills that I

used not have. I have also been made to understand that to make out a good research topic, it is
important to consider the problem that the world is going through. Most importantly, I have
become conversant with some of the search engines available online with the updated materials
compared to the old books that they not be having the current information.
Therefore, the experience has been good, entertaining, adventurous although tiresome. The nice
experience from the research has taught me to always have a positive mind to whatever I lay my
hand to do. A significant number of my colleagues would call me and lament that they wish to
give up on the whole research ‘thing.’ It was a sure symbol that not everyone was enjoying the
research as I would do, and I loved it even more that for the first time I would enjoy something
that most people are against.
