Journal and Reflective Writing
AI Summary
This assignment is a Gibbs Cycle reflection by a student, detailing two significant situations encountered during their academic journey. The first situation involves the student's initial experience at Stanmore College, focusing on their interest in mathematics, subsequent poor performance, and the steps taken to improve, including seeking guidance from professors and developing a study plan. The second situation revolves around the student's challenges with biology, initially finding it difficult but later developing a positive perspective due to the supportive environment and practical approach to learning at college. The reflection analyzes feelings, evaluations, conclusions, and planned actions for each situation, referencing academic sources to support the analysis and providing insights into personal growth and learning strategies. The document is a reflective account of the student's experiences, demonstrating the application of the Gibbs Cycle framework to understand and learn from academic challenges and successes.

2GIBBS CYCLE
Situation 1
Step 1: Description
This was the time when I first got admission at Stanmore college(Stanmore.ac.uk. 2020). I found
math interesting and wanted to pursue it. However later when the results were out, I was sad.
This is because I got poor marks. I felt really sad. However I wantd to improve and started
reaching out to my professors. (Markkanen et al. 2020).
Step 2: Feelings
I was feeling anxious and nervous before the situation took place. However gradually I was able
to gain confidence and made sure to develop a good proficiency in math. I knew that I find it
interesting but I often make mistakes as I become nervous under pressure.
Step 3: Evaluation
The thing that did not go well in this session is that I got poor marks in maths and also could not
live upto my expectations. However later on, I realized that the good thing was I came to know
about all my mistakes and was also ready to solve them. I talked with my mentor and got to
know that in order to improve in maths, I must practice on a daily basis and also devlop ky
concentration level. (Tanaka, Okamoto and Koide 2018).
Step 4: Conclusions
In the future, if I face the same situation, I will immediately take help from my mentors for better
guidance.

3GIBBS CYCLE
Step 5: Action
The action that I would be taking in the future is to overcome my fear and set out a clear
goal plan. This will help me to move in a step by step manner.
I will take part in some extracurricular math classes so that I can get a better practice
session
I will have to work over my concentration level so that I am able to overcome my
nervousness.
Situation 2
Step 1: Description
I always found biology to be a very difficult subject. This was because the syllabus was very
huge and I could not remember them. It was because of this fear that I always avoided this
subject. However after joining college, I was able to develop new perspectives about this subject
(Stanmore.ac.uk. 2020).
Step 2: Feelings
Initially, I was feeling nervous to study in biology. However, after joining, I was really happy as
it had a very student-friendly environment and all the staff and classmates were supportive
(Pianpeng and Koraneekij 2016). They made biology classes really interesting as a major portion
was done in a practical class and not just theoretical. This has really helped me a lot.

Step 3: Evaluation
The thing that went well in this was getting a Global exposure as the world-famous coaches and
professors came to mentor us. Apart from this, on-job training for 45 days was also a very good
experience. The thing that did not go well was that I delayed a lot in raking this decision. As I
was shy in the beginning I used to skip classes and this made me lose the important notes which I
collected later.
Step 4: Conclusions
This was one of the best experiences for me and also my family. They were happy to know that I
am adjusting so well in this college.
Step 5: Action
I will try to keep a guide book and also practice all biology lessons from it so that I am
ready with the basis
I will make it a point to reach out to my professors every time when I face any issues
I will not just go by the theoretical work rather look for the practical classes and the on
job training facilities as this makes the topics interesting for me
I will keep a time of about 30 minutes for revising the chapters as they will be much
helpful for me to get rid of my nervousness.
